LATEST STORIES FROM THE ORANGE SQUEEZE

Orange in the League (10/31/08)

After a night where no ex Syracuse players took to the floor, last night's NBA slate had several of them in action. And as I am trying to make it a daily occurrence, when there is an ex Orange player on the court, on this blog there is the "Orange in the League".

Seven Big East teams in ESPN/USA Today poll, but not SU

As many so called experts have been saying over and over and over again, the Big East conference is loaded when it comes to basketball. The ESPN/USA Today poll that came out today confirms just that, with seven teams from the biggest conference in the college landscape getting in the Top 25.

Another interview with "Da Beat of N.Y."

Just a couple of days before the game between Louisville and Syracuse I was able to get my favorite interview, "Da Beat of N.Y.", and see what he thnks about the going on of this team, and of course of their coach.

Orange in the League (10/29/08)

After a slow start Tuesday (as is always the case), the National Basketball Association put 12 games up on Wednesday's schedule, which means most of the six ex Orange were in action last night.

Robinson on the Hot Seat yet again

Last week Greg Robinson's squad was off, so the the good news in that is that Syracuse didn't lose. The bad news is that the team is still on ESPN's infamous list, Bottom 10, and Greg Robinson is still on the Hot Seat rankings.

Orange in the League (10/28/08)

Last night the National Basketball Association began its season, meaning that it is once again time to bring back "Orange in the League". In all there were only three games, but in one of them had an ex Orange playing.

L'ville 14 points favorite against SU

The Vegas lines have opened with Syracuse being a pretty big underdog against Louisville. I found odds on five major sites and they all have the Cards being a two touchdown favorite to the Orange.

L'ville vs Syracuse: The First Thoughts

With each week that passes, as the attention shifts from the game just played to the one that is going to be played next, I make my thoughts known with the weekly post on "The Orange Squeeze" called "First Thoughts".

Robinson talks about the Times article

As I do most every day I am reading the Daily Orange, who is reporting that head coach Greg Robinson responded to the New York Times article from a week or so ago. In that story from the Times it said that SU had hired Chuck Neinas and his firm to start looking for the next head coach on the hill.

Another head coach falls, Robinson still hanging on

Another head coach who has been on the Hot Seat has been fired, even if not in the same way as Bowden was. Washington's Tyrone Willingham is out as the head man of the football program, but he will finish the season for the Huskies.

The "what if" on Donte Greene

I just read a very good blog by Brent Axe about the Syracuse basketball team for the upcoming season and the "what if" Donte Greene was still on the hill.

Some thoughts about Robinson and the future...

Well, the bye week came and went, Greg Robinson is still the head coach at Syracuse, Dr. Daryl Gross is still the athletic director and this Saturday the Orange will (probably) lose again. Guess some things never change, do they?

Could there be a bad side to a great Big East?

I've been listening to a man that I have always respected as far as his knowledge of sports (as well as the way he acts as a person), Brent Axe, talk on his radio show about the upcoming Big East basketball season. (Brent also has a blog). He brings out some great, great points...

Orange in the League in hiatus until the start of the season

I know that we began "Orange in the League" so short ago and right away we have to stop it. But it's not because of not trying, it's because the NBA isn't going to play any more games until it opens the regular season on Tuesday , October 28th.

Jonny Flynn better be the MVP this season

As I am doing my nightly blog walk through the Syracuse links I found this poll being done by Mike Waters of Syracuse.com. It talks about who will be the MVP for the SU Basketball squad this season.

One Midnight Madness, so many links about it...

It sounds like the 8:00 p.m. Midnight Madness was a great success. From the first blog I found from the Daily Orange, sounds like everyone from the packed house had a great time, especially a lovely elderly lady who danced with Jonny Flynn.

Orange in the League (10/24/08)

I apologize for the tardiness of the blog "Orange in the League", but on Saturday between real life as well as other blogs I have to have up early this one gets pushed back just a tad. But let's get it going now...

Madness is here, and it is packed

Tonight is (earlier than) Midnight Madness for the Syracuse basketball teams at Manley Field House, which holds 9,500 fans. From what I have heard the tickets have been all sold out for the event, and if you aren't going you are probably missing something good from how the hype is going around.

Orange in the League (10/23/08)

With eight games on tap in the NBA last night there must have been plenty of ex Orange playing. That, here on "The Orange Squeeze", can only mean that it is time for the "Orange in the League".

New commit for SU basketball

From the looks of it, and I am way late in seeing this story from Mike Water's blog on syracuse.com, Syracuse has gotten themselves a very good center for the 2010 season.

How bad is SU football? What do the numbers say...

We have all heard about how bad the situation is with the Syracuse football program. How the head coach isn't doing his job, and how this program is gone down, down, way down. Well, I decided to go through the numbers of the three and a half years...

SU still in ESPN's Bottom 10

Another week, another Bottom 10 from ESPN and another ranking from the Coaches Hot Seat 2008, and yes, another round with Syracuse and Greg Robinson being in both of these infamous rankings. It is getting to be as though both of these sites have decided to just keep the Orange as a...

Orange in the League (10/22/08)

It is the second day of "Orange in the League" right here on "The Orange Squeeze". With a line up of six games there is plenty to talk about when it comes to players that once played in the Carrier Dome.

SU Basketball is a good team, and so are many others

Reading around the SU blogosphere this morning I found a very good article by Brent Axe on syracuse.com that talks about yesterday's rankings at the Big East Media Day.
