LATEST STORIES FROM THE ORANGE SQUEEZE

Another interview with "Da Beat of N.Y."

Hot on the trail of his vactions (how luck it is to be semi-retired) I caught up with "Da Beat of N.Y.", who has much to say about what happened last Saturday in the sunshine state. But while I am at it...

List and rankings from the BE Media Day

As I am checking out my favorite site when it comes to North East recruiting stuff, ZagsBlog, I find some of the "results" coming out of Big East Media day. I have to say that some of the things coming out of these polls/rankings I would have guessed, but some came as a bit of a surpise.

Orange in the League (10/21/08)

As I have been doing on my other blog, The Fifth Corner, I will begin on this one as well to follow the ex players of the college in their professional career. It is going to be a daily blog, where I give you a small blur about the ex Orange, and then give you the full scorebox from the game.

Big East Media Day is upon us

Today is what we could call the beginning of the Men's Basketball season, as the sixteen teams from the Big East meet up in Madison Square Garden for the BE Media Day. (On a side note, the Women's BE Media Day is tomorrow on ESPN Zone in NYC).

Who is already bowl eligible?

Since I am looking around to find something to write/blog about as far as the Big East is concerned I looked up all the teams that just after the halfway point of the season are bowl eligible already. I have to say that looking at the large picture the Big East might not be as bad...

Robinson keeps on talking and talking and talking

Every so often on this small blog of mine I ask where the Syracuse PR man is. No one can ever tell me, much worst though, no one can ever get the PR man to talk to Greg Robinson.

C.J. Fair an Orange

While there isn't much to be happy about for the football team, including the recruiting, which seems almost stopped right now, SU fans can be happy about other things.

SU vs USF: The X's and O's

In yesterday's game there was one thing that I noticed throughout the whole game that bothered me as far as game play selection. Either Mitch Browning, as the offensive coordinator, or Greg Robinson, as the head coach, or someone else, decided that the Orange would be best served...

Robinson should just not talk anymore

After the last two games (before the USF one) I felt good for Greg Robinson. Yes, he and his team had lost. Yes, nothing much was changing besides the amount of losses on his resume. Yes, there was nothing he could do to change the mind of anyone that he needs to go.

SU vs USF: The Recap

Well, when you've got your opponent two to one in time of possession and beating them in total yards, you would figure you would be winning. But that wasn't the case for Syracuse (1-6), who had the ball for over 19 minutes and outgained USF (6-1) 220 to 211 in the first half...

SU vs USF: The Last Thoughts

With a bit more than an hour to go before the Orange play the Bulls it is time for my "Last Thoughts" on the game.

SU vs USF: The Preview

Some people have said that this week could be the one that Dr. Gross takes the step we have all been waiting for and fired his head coach Greg Robinson. The time could be right, as the Orange will have another bye week after this game with a ranked opponent.

Another interview with "Da Beat of N.Y."

It is the seventh game of the season, a road trip to Florida, against a team that could be the cream of the crop for the Big East. It is Syracuse (1-5) against 19th ranked South Florida, and it could be a game that might be over just right after it has begun.

Jardine is going to red shirt

I had posted about the possibility of Scoop Jardine red shirting this upcoming season. Now, from a blog by the Daily Orange it seems that this is becoming a reality.

Let's face some facts here...

I know that some of the people that read this will definitely not agree with any of this blog. I also know that some will probably agree with very little. On the other hand, I think that it's time to talk reality when it comes to coaches and their jobs.

Kiffin duo to Clemson?

Lane Kiffin seems to be heading farther and farther away from the west coast, but also farther and farther away from the north east, but all of this we knew, so why am I writing this? Because there seems to be a big time twist in the storyline.

The Mountainlair grilled me...

John Radcliff from the great West Virginia site, the Mountainlair and the community AOL Fan House was nice enough to ask me a couple of questions about the WVU and SU game.

The Top Seven "I remember about Robinson"...

On my other site, The Fifth Corner, I did "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" about the football team. But, after the great job that Brent Axe over at his popular site did a heck of a job with his run down for the first half of the season, I figured that I do something different.

SU once again on the "Hot Seat" and "Bottom 10"

Another week and another episode on the "Syracuse is in the "Bottom 10" and Robinson is on the Hot Seat". I guess the only good thing if you are an Orange fan is that right next to SU is Rutgers in the latest "Bottom 10" from ESPN.

Some stats are more powerful than others!

I was browsing around a bit, when I came across a blog by the college football site, The Wiz, talking about the graduation success rates, covering student athletes who entered between the 1998-99 and 2001-02 school years. Then I saw that Sean over at TNIAAM hit on this as well (with...

SU vs USF: The First Thoughts

With each week that passes, as the attention shifts from the game just played to the one that is going to be played next, I make my thoughts known with the weekly post on "The Orange Squeeze" called "First Thoughts".

Another interview with "Da Beat of N.Y."

With a defeat that truly left a bad taste in my mouth and a long weekend, I left my good friend "Da Beat of N.Y." rest for an extra day before hitting him up for some after thoughts to Saturday's game.

Clemson looking at Kiffin, maybe

Don't look now but Lane Kiffin is being mentioned in articles when it comes to the Clemson job. How does that strike you now? And if you say surprised than you are not following college football too much.

SU vs WVU, post game interview with John Radcliff of the Mountainlair blog

John Radcliff, of the Mountainlair and AOL FanHouse, is back for the post game interview (which is a bit late thanks to the three day weekend I had). BTW, once you have read this interview, go to this url and check out the song done by John, it is awesome to say the least.

How many hints does Dr. Gross need?

If Dr. Gross needs more than a firing of another coach in mid season in order to get going on his own mission, here is another small tid bit that could help him towards handing Greg Robinson his pink slip.
