Texans Lose Matthews
The Texans have lost assistant offensive line coach Bruce Matthews to the Titans. After retiring as a player, Matthews joined the Texans in 2010 to begin his coaching career. Even though the running game vastly improved when Matthews joined the Texans, it’s unlikely that Matthews had very much of an impact. Matthews was merely the lowest ranked assistant coach last season...

Arian Foster Robbed of Award
I have to say I’m not that surprised that Arian Foster lost to Jamaal Charles for the FedEx Ground Player of the Year Award. Simply put, awards based off a fan vote are strictly popularity contests. So it’s also not a surprise that Aaron Rodgers beat out Tom Brady for the FedEx Air Player of the Year Award.
Charles may have had a higher yards per carry average (6.4 ypc...

Firing Kubiak Will Not Benefit the Texans – Frank Bush Gone?
There are a lot of Texans fans up in arms about the loss to the Jets. The biggest call by the fans is for the firing of head coach Gary Kubiak. I think that would be a completely ridiculous suggestion in the middle of the season. Let me explain.
If the Texans were to fire Kubiak, who would replace him? Maybe Bill Kollar, Rick Dennison, of perhaps even Ray Rhodes? Well after you just...

The Jets were up 23-7 and were ready to glide their way in for the win. Momentum shifted quickly after the Texans forced a fumble by Shonn Greene.
On the very next play, Matt Schaub connected with tight end Joel Dreessen for an explosive 43 yard touchdown.
After a defensive stop, the Texans had to settle for a more conventional drive. Highlighted by Matt Schaub’s ability to...

ESPN – In Jets, Texans can see route back from 4-5
Unfortunately for the Texans, their defense isn’t anywhere near as good as the Jets’. It’s more than just believing, they need to start doing. It’s not the team as a whole, it’s the defenses ability to slow down their opponents. They can’t just believe they can have a better defense. What they need to do it start playing like a better defense,...

Jets Coach Rex Ryan Talks Texans
Coach Rex Ryan, what a hell of a coach. He’s big, fat, and can inspire his team. He has a wild personality, and even though it can get out of control at times, most people seem to like it. His personality was in the spotlight on this season’s HBO run of Hard Knocks. I didn’t exactly know what to think when I first saw Ryan at the podium as the next head coach of the New York...

Analyzing the Hail Mary Defense
I know this must be hard to watch, but we have to take a look at what went wrong. After analyzing it over and over, I found a few key things in the play. Here they are.
The ball is thrown in an area where there are initially only two defenders, Eugene Wilson and Glover Quin. Even as the ball arrives, there are no receivers behind the defense in the endzone.
As the ball approaches...
