LATEST STORIES FROM WE GOT A GUY THERE

Daily Reading - June 29, 2010

Another non-BCS school is happy right where they are, which happens to be in a non-BCS conference. New Mexico State is the latest school to proclaim its happiness in a non-BCS conference. NMSU A.D. McKinley Boston expressed his comfort level with the Western Athletic Conference by saying, "I like where we are and hopefully the seven others and the new people we add will strengthen...

Daily Reading - June 27, 2010

For the first installment of daily reading links on this new blog, I have found an interesting article from the Tulsa World, written by John Klein. He suggests Conference USA, the Mountain West Conference and the Western Athletic Conference should come up with a plan to come up with a plan and present it to the BCS committee, in order to get an automatic bid to a BCS bowl each year...

About the author

I've always been a fan of the underdog. My favorite teams have always been teams that have rarely been the favorite. I attended a small college to play baseball and currently work in the sports information field at another small college.I prefer collegiate athletics over professional sports. The professional sports which I choose to follow are Major League Baseball and soccer...

Comparing Strasburg's First Two Starts

It's safe to say that Stephen Strasburg (picture courtesy "afagen" on Flickr) has been successful in his first two starts at the Major League level. Strasburg blew away the Pittsburgh Pirates, striking out 14 in seven innings of work. He followed that up with a more mortal-like line with eight K's over five and one-thirds innings against the Cleveland Indians. In both starts,...

New idea for this blog

I'm thinking of taking this blog in another direction. I haven't used it for awhile now, but I think it's a good time to get back into it. Anyway, I'm a stats freak. I love dissecting a box score and looking at historical statistics and see how they compare. Just recently, I spent several days looking over Stephen Strasburg's amazing debut and how it compared to others in the...

And the champion is.....

WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!! Who isn't going to a world series these days? AABC, AAU, CABA, NABF, USTOC, Triple Crown, USSSA, BPA, American Legion. I hope I didn't leave anyone out. With so many world series tournaments offered, it seems like it's a rare achievement NOT to be attending one of the season culminating events.

And the champion is...

Today's post is from a guest. Eric Ichesco chimes in on We Got a Guy There about all of the ridiculous summer baseball organizations that are in it for the profit and not to truly help the growth of the game.WE'RE GOING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!Who isn't going to a world series these days? AABC, AAU, CABA, NABF, USTOC, Triple Crown, USSSA, BPA, American Legion. I hope I didn't leave...

VIDEO - New home for the College World Series (2011)

Check out the video for the new home of the College World Series, beginning in 2011. It will still be in Omaha, Nebraska, but not in Rosenblatt Stadium. Too bad... Rosenblatt is a great venue for the CWS.

New home for the College World Series

Check out the video of the new home for the College World Series, beginning in 2011. The site is still in Omaha, but it will no longer be Rosenblatt Stadium. I can't imagine the CWS without Rosenblatt, but it's shortly going to be a reality.

Fresno State and summer baseball

I'll be the first to say that I never thought Fresno State would win a game at the College World Series. Yet, the Bulldogs proved me wrong, early and often. In fact, the Bulldogs blitzed my pick to win the championship, the Rice Owls. Obviously, it is double elimination, so Rice still has a chance, yet, Fresno State flat out embarrassed them with a 12-run whipping! Wayne Graham...

It's a super (regional) kind of day

Omaha, Nebraska is the location. Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium is the location. And, the College World Series is the event. One that is fast approaching. After last night's contests, the NCAA Division I field has been cut to 16 teams, who will compete in the super regional round beginning this Friday (June 6) at various sites.

A step closer to Omaha

If you caught any of the NCAA baseball regional tournaments this weekend you know how many exciting games were being televised. Just a few years ago, the only college baseball games that were televised were on the Sunshine Network or games at the College World Series. I'm loving it now, though.
