In what was considered by all and sundry to be a surprise move by the NBA League office of Basketball Operations, Stu Jackson issued an apology to the Los Angeles Lakers over the huge disparity in free throw attempts in game 2 of the NBA Finals at the TD Banknorth Garden at a post game interview with media.

Prior to the game's beginning, if you told me that the end result would have both teams scoring under 90, then asked me who would be the winner, I would tell you the Spurs. But the 89-85 scoreline went the other way. 'Twas the Lakers who'd run out winners in the end.

Perhaps the best adjective I can give to the way Detroit have played throughout the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
Every other 'contender' has struggled mightily at times.
The Lakers couldn't close out the Jazz, even when the opportunity was there. The Spurs looked absolutely lost in game 5, and down 2-3 face elimination. And Boston's road woes have everyone believing...

Failed Experiments?
First round of the playoffs are done, and given their first round exit Dallas has to be wondering what they have to do to get back to being a top-flight unit. Whilst Phoenix managed to be competitive against the Spurs, it was evident that they cannot beat San Antonio in a close game.

Pretty hard to work out patterns in the playoff series thus far. I get why teams up 2-0 or 3-0 lose a game, especially away… but pretty hard to foresee Detroit falling into a 1-2 hole before today's game.
