History 101: 1982 Cal – Stanford ‘the play’
The 1982 Stanford – Cal game had arguably the craziest ending in college football history. Stanford was led by quarterback John Elway and took a 20-19 lead with only four seconds remaining. Mustafa Jalil will play in his fifth straight big game at Snapdrago (Qualcomm) Stadium Wednesday night when his Cal Golden Bears take on the University of Texas Longhorns in the Holiday Bowl. Jalil played in four straight Division III CIF Championship games for the Cathedral Catholic Dons.

Texas lands in the Holiday Bowl against Cal
Since 2000, the Texas Longhorns football team has made a home away from home in San Diego in late December.
Most recently, Texas faced off against the Arizona Sun Devils in the 2007 edition of the game, leaving San Diego with a 52-34 victory. Mack Brown’s team also made the trip to Cali in 2000, 2001, and 2003.
