Cuban Expects SportVu To Automate Goaltending Calls Within Three Years

Mark Cuban expects the NBA to automate goaltending calls with SportVu technology within the next three seasons. Goaltending is one of the most difficult calls for referees to get accurate due to the height of the angles. SportVu cameras were installed in all 30 NBA arenas for the 13-14 season.

Shawn Marion, DeJuan Blair get physical, help Mavericks even series with 113-92 win

A couple of guys who don’t take any lip or any guff from anybody dragged the Mavericks back into their first-round playoff series with the San Antonio Spurs. Shawn Marion and former Spur DeJuan Blair pushed first and pushed hard as the Mavericks controlled Game 2 Wednesday night for a thoroughly dominating 113-92 victory over the Spurs at AT&T Center. Leveling the series...

NBA Playoffs: Mavericks stun Spurs in Game 2, win 113-92

The 10-game losing streak is finally over. When they came in to game 2 on Wednesday night, the Dallas Mavericks wiped the slate clean and weren’t discouraged about their late-game slip up in game 1, to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 113-92. The series is now locked in at 1-1 with both teams heading to Dallas for game 3 on Saturday. Turnovers, turnovers, turnovers. That was the story...

Dallas Mavericks settle for 1-1 tie heading to Big D

In a year where seedings mean absolutely nothing in the postseason, the Dallas Mavericks are leaving San Antonio feeling like this isn’t a typical 1-8 match up. Dallas tied the series at one, but know it should be up 2-0 heading back to the American Airlines Center for Game 3 on April 26. The Spurs, who have dominated recent history with their in-state rivals, finished Game 1...

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavericks to Rare Win Over San Antonio Spurs

Dirk Nowitzki knows what it is like to beat the Spurs. He's done it before. Prior to Wednesday night it had been awhile, but with a 113-92 win the 10-game losing streak was finally over! After basically flopping down the stretch of Game One the Mavericks started well and appeared to get stronger as the game went on outscoring the Spurs in each quarter. The win ties the series...

Mavs roll past Spurs in Game 2 to even series

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Monta Ellis scored 21 points and the Dallas Mavericks rolled to a 113-92 victory over San Antonio on Wednesday night, snapping a 10-game skid against the Spurs and evening their first-round series at a game apiece. Shawn Marion scored 20 points, Dirk Nowitzki added 16, Devin Harris had 18 and Jose Calderon 12 for Dallas, which never trailed after the opening...

Big turnover in San Antonio

So was Game One a case of the Mavericks collapsing or the Mavericks missing their opportunity? Would San Antonio even allow Dallas another opportunity to win at AT&T Center and take control of the series? The answer was, the Mavericks did collapse and the Spurs would give them that opportunity and then some. Dallas continued switching up and fine-tuning its defense to keep San...

Can the Mavericks Even the Series?

Although the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Dallas Mavericks in-game 1, Dirk Nowitzki will likely bounce back from his poor first game. In game 1, Dirk Nowitzki had just 11 points on 4-14 shooting.   As a team, the Mavs shot just 41.2% from the field and 33.3% from behind the arc. Especially because their ... Mavs' Carlisle: Popovich should be 'Coach of the Century'

The San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks have a long-heated NBA rivalry. While the fans take this in-state battle seriously, the coaches and players have the utmost respect for what each franchise has accomplished. Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was named the NBA's Coach of the year on Monday, but Mavs coach Rick Carlisle believes that's not enough. "Why don't we just...

Can Mavs recover after blowing golden opportunity?

The prospect of the Dallas Mavericks winning four of the next six games against the San Antonio Spurs sounds pretty far-fetched. But stealing Game 2 in the Alamo City seems reasonable in the aftermath of Game 1. Can a team gain confidence after blowing a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter and losing 90-85? Actually, the answer's yes. The Mavs got off to a horrible start Eastern...

Monta Ellis hits over-the-head backwards trick shot

There are few things that we love here more at That NBA Lottery Pick than epic trick shots and back on Sunday, Monta Ellis delivered us an impressive one. Before the start of game one of the Mavericks-Spurs series, Monta decided to head out onto the AT&T Center court to pull of an epic trick shot. Watch as Monta throws an over-the-head backwards three-pointer that gets nothing...

Dirk Nowitzki Leaves With Elvis

Dallas Mavericks center Dirk Nowitzki is a missing person, at least in a basketball sense.  Nowitzki sure wasn’t at the AT&T Center against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1.  He left the building before game time with Elvis. Nowitzki only contributed 11 points against the Spurs, far below his 25.9 points per game career playoff average.  The usually accurate German was only...

Mavericks blow lead in final minutes to Spurs

My theory is there is probably no one way to lose a playoff game that is more of a 'downer' than another. But in Sunday's first-round Game 1 at San Antonio, when the Mavs held a late 10-point lead but then went almost six minutes without scoring to cough up a 90-85 loss? This tests the theory - and the limits of 'downer.' The good news: The Dallas Mavericks were...

Five thoughts on Mavericks loss in Game 1 to Spurs

What a terrible time to struggle from the field. The Dallas Mavericks went about as cold as any playoff team could possibly go in the fourth quarter Sunday afternoon, missing 12 of their final 13 shots. Here are my thoughts on the Mavericks dropping the first game of their opening round series with the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs, 90-85. 1.) The Mavericks had a phenomenal chance...

Spurs take down Mavericks to win game 1

The Spurs scored 19 of the final 23 points, including 15 straight to dig out of a late 10-point deficit and defeat Dallas 90-85 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series Sunday at the AT&T Center. Game 2 is Wednesday at the AT&T Center before the series shifts to Dallas. The Mavericks took their largest lead at 81-71 early in the fourth quarter. The Spurs, sluggish on...

WATCH: Mark Cuban looked disgusted during Spurs' big run

Earlier today, the San Antonio Spurs finished off the Dallas Mavericks in game one of their playoff series with a 15-0 run in the fourth quarter. During the game, TNT cameras decided to pan over to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban for a reaction and well, he provided one: Poor Mr. Cuban… *** Cuban shakes his head [Caleb Saenz] Cuban image courtesy of Getty Images

The Mavericks seemed poised for an upset. They got a stellar performance from their bench and had finally solved their Spurs bugaboo. Then the 10-point lead they had built midway through the fourth quarter, crumbled and disappeared in a matter of moments. San Antonio’s 15-0 run in the fourth quarter put Dallas’ upset dreams away with Tony Parker slicing through Dallas’ defense...

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Dallas Mavericks 90-85 Sunday in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series, and the game was actually very close until the end. The Mavs were up 81-73 with seven minutes left in the game, but San Antonio went on a 15-0 run to take a commanding lead that they […]

Mavs embracing underdog role in series vs. Spurs

The Dallas Mavericks know that many experts have predicted a San Antonio sweep in this best-of-seven series. They spent part of Friday talking about having a "clean slate" against a team they haven't beat in the past nine attempts. It almost sounds like the Mavs are trying to convince themselves they have a chance. The games against the Spurs this season haven't...
