SYRACUSE ORANGE NEWS

Boo birds are rude to some, realistic to others

I have to say that Bud Poliquin should quit his job at the Post Standard and he should give up radio and anything else he has going. Why? Because Mr. Poliquin would be great as the PR person for Syracuse University.

The clock is ticking...

Check out the new clock on the "The Orange Squeeze" site. It is the count up of the time that head coach Greg Robinson has had his job for too long!

Let's leave the past alone, for a while at least...

Well, is the weekend over as far as Syracuse is concerned? Good, because I have something to tell all that read my humble blog. It is time that we take off those orange painted glasses and realize something very important.

The Ernie Davis statue, from pride to saga

I wasn't going to blog about the Ernie Davis statue and the whole thing behind the "Nike" logo, but as it is getting bigger and bigger I am going to say this, and then just drop it, since it's not going to change anything.

SU and Smith, what could have been

It was nothing big, just a small little line, but with the way that the football team has been going this season on the hill, the meaning of that line is a lot bigger than the words. Taj Smith is working out for the Jaguars...

SU Football once again in the ESPN Bottom Ten

Well, one thing you can say about Greg Robinson's squad is that they are pretty steady when it comes to the "Bottom Ten" by ESPN.

Brinkley gets Big East Honor Roll

Just like last week, even though the game was pretty much a debacle for the Orange, there is a silver lining. This time the Big East conference rewarded the great play by senior running back Curtis Brinkley, who rushed for 143 yards (a career high) and 1 TD.

Another recruit won't be coming to Syracuse

There is good and bad news when it comes to this blog and Syracuse football. The good news is that it's not about another football player not arriving for this year's season. The bad news is that another player isn't coming to SU, but he is next year's recruit.

How long do I wait?

Today I was having an online conversation with one of my friends I play fantasy sports with, and the following topic came out: "how long do you wait to go for your sleeper player?". Now, this being a Syracuse blog and not a fantasy one, what does this have to do with the...

Pauluspalooza, coming this fall to a starting lineup near you (if you live near Syracuse)

Before last week, this is one of the last times Greg Paulus wore a helmet and pads, as a senior for Christian Brothers Academy a couple days after Thanksgiving 2004: Yeah, I know, nobody on the white team covered anybody, but still: His team dominated and Paulus was Gatorade's...

Look! A talking Orange

This week, Syracuse blogger Brian from Orange::44 was kind enough to send over his thoughts on the game. Brian and the Syracuse faithful--trust me, they need all the faith they can get right now--are just as excited as we Penn State fans. So here you go, Brian's word.

Penn State Slaps Paulus, Syracuse

Valero_alamo_a932
Our PSU correspondent Alison writes in with her report from Happy Valley. Well at least we know Sean Lee is back. The linebacker made 13 tackles in the 28-7 victory against Syracuse in their first visit to Beaver Stadium since 1990. Lee played...

Another recruit for Greg Robinson

And then there were five. Five commits that is, for the Syracuse football team, as head coach Greg Robinson just got a new player for next year, Justin Pugh, a 6'5"/285 lbs offensive lineman, is set to join the team next season.

SU vs USF: The X's and O's

In yesterday's game there was one thing that I noticed throughout the whole game that bothered me as far as game play selection. Either Mitch Browning, as the offensive coordinator, or Greg Robinson, as the head coach, or someone else, decided that the Orange would be best served...

What truly is the Big East in football?

After the seventh week of the 2008 season I have come to a crossroads for Big East football. Either the conference truly stinks or Syracuse is good

Money don't always get you wins

Here is a fun, well it is probably a sad one actually, tid bit you can use when you are at the bar and don't have anything else to talk about when it comes to the head coach of the Orange, Greg Robinson.

Dr. Gross returning to his old form

Just when I thought I could end with my comments about Dr. Gross and his "smoke and mirrors" routine the AD goes and does an interview where that is exactly what he did. Dr. Gross did an interview with News 10 Now.

No one thinks about her

As I listened to the day's radio shows talk about what is going on with Syracuse football, I heard mention of something that few people have touched upon, and yet is a very big part of this equation.

The mess is getting bigger

It has taken over three football seasons, but finally Syracuse's Athletic Director Dr. Daryl Gross is realizing he backed the wrong guy for head coach. In an interview done with Ivan Maisel of ESPN.com the AD said things that most of the fan base has repeated for months (if not years) now.

The future for Greg Robinson could be...

So, the hunt for a new head coach at Syracuse seems to be going on right now. From the main stream media to the bloggers, everyone (including me) has had someone that they thought could fit the bill as the next coach on the hill.

Patrick Shadle on the watch list for the Lou Groza Award

While I saw this yesterday while doing my daily walk through of the Syracuse sites I totally forgot to post it, so I will do it now. Senior place kicker Patrick Shadle is one of thirty Division I players of his position to be on the `08 watch list for the 17th annual Lou Groza College...

Same old song

I guess this is the season we are in for at Syracuse. I like my saying of "nothing changes if nothing changes", but the more I read about the first game of the season and the more I hear new phrases that basically have the same meaning as mine. So, I figured I'd do a...

Syracuse loses another receiver...

And another one is gone. Another wide receiver from the Syracuse line up that is. Sophomore Dan Sheeran broke his fibula in Saturday's practice and will miss from 8 to 10 weeks due to it, basically taking him out for half (if not more) the season.
