2012 Sony Ericsson Open Announces Player Fields

The 2012 Sony Ericsson Open men’s and women’s player fields were announced on Wednesday and the event will feature the top 78 ranked men and the 76 top ranked women in the world of tennis. The tournament, which is owned and operated by IMG, boasts a Grand Slam quality players’ field including Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Kim Clijsters, Serena Williams and Caroline Wozniacki. The players will once again converge at the Tennis Center at Crandon Park, March 19-April 1 to compete for one of the most prestigious titles in tennis. The qualifying rounds will be played March 19-20 and will determine 12 more slots in each singles draw. The tournament will award wildcards; five for the men’s field and eight for the women’s.
