Back in the States after my Olympic experience

I'm back in the United States now. After representing this country, I'm happy to be back here in my own bed. I had a very memorable Olympic experience, as I'm guessing most first time Olympians do. I had one of, if not the, biggest win of my career against a player who I believe will go down as the greatest of all time. I had such a high and then lost in the semifinals in a close 3 set match. It was a tough way to go out after feeling like I really had a chance to bring home the gold. But i didn't let that deter me from enjoying the whole experience thoroughly. I met some other great Olympians and learned that way more of them than I would have expected eat McDonald's.

Now I will just try to figure out how to get some sleep at home at normal hours. I think the 12 hour time difference is just about the toughest adjustment to make. I'm sitting here writing this very early in the morning because I've been awake since 4 a.m. trying to get back to sleep. It's a lost cause now. But i got caught up on a lot of emails, so at least I was productive. i didn't respond to every single piece of email I got on my site, but I tried to get to quite a few. So i will just say thank you to everyone who watched me at the Olympics, supported me, and sent congratulatory emails to my website. All of them were read and all appreciated.

Now today I will try to get organized back at home like I always do on my first day back. And then it will be back to training soon so I can be ready for the U.S. Open. although I lost in the semifinals of the Olympics I feel like I am playing very well and with my hometown crowd at the Open, I feel like I have a chance of a lot of success there. I don't want to jinx it, but I have a good feeling about the tournament. I hope everyone enjoys watching the rest of the Olympics and is as proud as I am of my fellow competitors for the sacrifices they have made to be there competing for their respective countries.

You got jipped on that call in the semi-finals. You should have been in the gold medal round. The replay clearly shows the ball going off of Gonzalez's racket. Big up on defeating Federer.

You played great and represented our country very well! You beat the best player in the world, so you definitely made us all proud back home! Good luck training before the Open.

I've said it so many times - nobody can handle the best of JB's game. Congrats on demonstrating that against Roger. I know that an athlete has a hard time not winning it all, but you made a lot of people proud who have backed you for a long time.

Now lets see that A game at Flushing Meadows!!

We have a good feeling about your game and about the US Open, too. CONGRATS on your Olympics accomplishments and good luck in Flushing!

you are #1 in my book James......I see big things on the horizon for you......competitors better recognize

You looked great against federer. Do you think that he is just going through a rough year or do you think he is past his prime?

You did great at the olimpics. Good luck for the US open!!!
Nuria (mexico)

James, congrats with your Olympic performance....It was amazing. Have a rest now and be ready for US Open. You'll be the first there. Good luck!!!!!

Welcome back. Hope TS Fay provides the quiet rain you need for a good nap. Congrats on your first olympic adventure. Knock off the McD's - you have the Open starting Monday. Your play was well, your integrity was as high as always, your results were not as hoped, but you made the US Proud! Good Luck at the Open. Hope you have some night matches-then, you will have home court advantage.

yo im not into tennis but u doing ya thing dog

incredible job man! watch your game against federer and you had that fire in your eyes. really inspiring, thank you, and don't stop now, keep going and keep growing.

Welcome back home. Looking forward to a great Open. Always enjoy watching you play. I'm ready for another great win at the open, actually six or seven great wins. Thanks for all the great memories from the Olympics.

James
Welcome Home and thank you for a memorable Olympics. Aug 14, 08 will forever be in my memory. To show you how you much you mean in my life; my parents who are retired called me at my job to tell me the news that my role model and Olympian James Riley Blake beat Roger Federer. I love the picture Chris Griffin has posted at the NEWS category on your website. That is the James Blake we want to see at the Open. That picture shows the "FIRE IN YOUR EYES".. Oh yes, JB, you were on fire at the Olympics and like Nikolas says don't stop now. We have the same wonderful feeling you do JB about the Open and your success. My husband and I are heading for New York next Wednesday to CHEER YOU ON ! See you at Flushing Meadows!
~ victory~

Go James ~ you are awesome!

James, Oklahoma loved your visit here with the Davis Cup team and continue to be PROUD of your successes! Keep up the good work! The U.S. Open is yours! Paula-Oklahoma City

Just saw the draw for the Open. Looks pretty good for James. Looks like a rematch with Gonzo would have to be in the finals. Gonzo has Ginepri, Roddick and at least four other Americans in his quarter of the draw. I'm ready for payback. But most of all, ready for a great run by JB.

Bravo James once again for your Olympic efforts. You did your country and yourself proud.
Just looked at the draw for next week and I see you are in the same 1/4 as Nadal. Just remember he maybe #1 now but you still hold the head to Head with him. Do you best guy

Im not from USA..But i really like u.. Ur the best tennis player IN THE WORLD!!!

I'm going to be heading to the US Open, I have no idea which match to buy tickets for, not sure I can spend money on more than one, and if I do it's gonna be in the bleachers. I really really hope the match I pick to go watch will be with you in it! Of course if I bought the finals games you'd be there... but wow, that's like a paycheck....

Sorry I missed meeting you in person by minutes at the Pilot Pen the other day. Congrats on your strong run at the Olympics. Take your focus to the Open now. You are on home turf and playing at the top of your game. Good luck.

James,
Awesome win Tuesday morning. We're with you all the way JB. Loved the #16 METS Jersey. Your mother looked fabulous as well wearing hers. YOUR SUCCESS AT THE US OPEN IS IMMINENT. WE ARE FEELING IT TO JAMES BLAKE! KEEP BELIEVING, KEEP WINNING! GO JAMES...........
~ VICTORY~

Hello James, Ihad the cheap seats but I saw the match w/you and Young. Great match. I was a scare, but I knew you could pull it off. One of many great matches you got there. I'm counting on you to take the whole US Open. YOU CAN DO IT!! Fire it up, Baby!! Later. Hollywood (I got an auto of Young-couldt get 2 you in time, Maybe next time...)

Good luck

I'm very happy to see that you played very well in US Open. Even though you had a hard time in the frist competition. It's a pity that I miss you competition in Beijing. Because of the rain on Aug. 10th ,I couldn't watch you game on Aug. 12th.I hope you will come to Beijing again in 2009 . Good luck!

Hey James, tough loss the other day against fish who just looked like he has been on his game this past week. I was at the young match sitting right across from your chair in the first row. I actually took paula abduls seat when she left.. I pulled for you, you put on a great show and was looking forward to seeing you into the 2nd week. Good luck though, I know you'll bounce back next tourney and get 'em again next yr
