What's up to the Yard? Enter my contest and win the new Top Spin 3 video game

Hey guys, I just got into Toronto for a tournament here this week. Now the hard court season is under way. Last week, I played in Indianapolis in the first tournament in the US summer circuit. The circuit is called the Olympus US Open Series and there are tournaments pretty much every week in the United States leading up to the US Open. The Olympics is in the middle of series this summer which changes the schedule somewhat for this year only. In the first US Open Series tournament in Indianapolis last week, I made the semis and lost to Dmitry Tursunov. He played well, but I really felt like I could have served better. Luckily, in tennis, there is always a tournament the next week to improve your play and results. For me, the only exception to this rule will be the Olympics since that's only once every 4 years and there are very few other opportunities to play in the Olympics during most tennis players careers. For me, it may be a once in a lifetime experience and I'm thrilled that i will be a part of that event. Last week was an encouraging start to the hard court season and now i'm looking forward to 2 consecutive major events (aka Masters Series level events) in Toronto and then Cincinnati....and then it's the Olympics in Beijing . indianapolis was nice, and i had a chance to catch up with some friends that i only get to see once a year. I will be playing singles and doubles at the Olympics and the men's team will be myself Bob and Mike Bryan, Robbie Ginepri and Sam Querry. I'm playing doubles with Ginepri. Venus and Serena along with Lindsay Davenport will be on the women's team which should make for a good group.

Now it's time to have a little fun. Not sure if many of you know, but 2K Sports just released Top Spin 3 for PS3, XBOX360 and Wii. It's a very cool game and I am a featured player in the game (and also shown digitally on the back cover). For the next month, I plan on asking you some questions for a chance to win a copy of the game. Please give me your best answer as I'll be picking the top 3 winners each week.

Without further ado, lets start it off...

Who were the past 3 US Olympic Gold medalists in Tennis (this includes Singles & Doubles)?

What up James....

My guess for the question is Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Lindsay Davenport

Serena Williams and Venus Williams, and Andre Agassi (just because I like him more than Davenport)

Also I am SOOO psyched for the Olympics, except for the stupid start times. No way will I be up at 2 AM to watch.

Venus williams, Mary Joe Fernandez/Gigi Fernandez, Andre Agassi, Lindsay Davenport?

(I'm playing on a Wii)

more importantly, I've been playing Wii Tennis, and my lats are killing me!

Venus Williams in 2000, Venus and Serena as Doubles in 2000. Agassi in 96...

USA won alot in 96 tho....

wait, did the sisters also win the Wimbledon championship this year? that would have been much more impressive (since they played each other in the singles final)

they did win doubles...three hours after the singles match they were in .....Too Dominant the Williams Sisters are...

Just Venus and Serena, in 2000!

Okay Serena Williams and Venus Williams for doubles in 2000, then Venus also won for singles that year, and in 1996 Davenport and Agassi both won.

venus williams - singles, 2000
serena williams - doubles, 2000
venus williams - doubles, 2000

1. Venus Williams in singles (2000) , and 2. Venus Williams in doubles (2000) and 3. Serena Williams in doubles (2000).

Unless Venus doesn't count twice, then any one of Agassi, Gigi Fernandez, Mary Jo Fernandez or Lindsay Davenport in 1996. I'm not sure which is most recent of those four since I don't know the start times of the matches ;)

1996: Andre Agassi (gold medal – men's singles), Lindsay Davenport (gold medal – women's singles), Mary Joe Fernandez and Gigi Fernandez (gold medal – women's doubles)
2000: Venus Williams (gold medal – women's singles), Venus Williams and Serena Williams (gold medal – women's doubles)

Venus and Serena won gold in the doubles event at the 2000 olympics, and then Serena won the Woman's singles gold medal as well that same olympics.
Davenport won the women's singles in 96 in Atlanta, with Agassi winning the men's singles gold medal and the Fernandez' (not related) won the women's double's gold.

hey james,

glad to see you online!!! now for the answer......

1. Andre Agassi in '96
2. Venus Williams in '00
3. Gigi Fernandez and Mary Joe Fernandez in '96
4. Serena Williams and Venus Williams in '00

hmm... how are you going to regulate this??? i just looked up and realized while typing everyone can view everyone else's answers. oh well, first come, first serve? besides a little tennis education for the masses couldn't be a bad thing! :)

take care

Venus and Serena - Davenport and Agassi

Venus & Sarena Williams in 2000 and Andre Agassi in 1996. Good luck in Toronto.

Hmm . . . is this a trick question? It doesn't matter, we don't believe in that whole tricks-are-for-kids thing anyway.

My response: Venus Williams (2000, Singles); Venus & Serena Williams (2000, Doubles); and a four-way tie for third, all from the 1996 Olympics--Andrea Agassi (SIngles), Lindsay Davenport (Singles), Gigi Fernandez & Mary Joe Fernandez (Doubles).

Venus Williams '00, Williams Sisters '00 doubles, Agassi '96

Hey James.. I'd just like to say Congrats on making it to the Olympics, that is a wonderful blessing and I'm sure you will go out there and give your best performance yet! Although I do rep for the ladies Venus and Serena, you are my favorite Tennis player! Keep up the great work!! I'm not entering the contest though, I don't have a PSP or an XBox yet Lol....

Welcome back! Top Spin 3 would be a nice addition to my brand-new Wii, so:

2000 Olympics Venus Williams for singles and Venus and Serena Williams for doubles
1996 A bunch of gold medals, but I'm going to guess Andre Agassi maybe played "last," making him number 3.

lol wtf

Hello James. Nice win. You got alittle down towards the end, but you hung in there. I stayed all through till after the rain delay. Slow game but a win is a win in the books.
