World No. 5 Andy Roddick reached the third round of the US Open after he earned a straight sets victory against Marc Gicquel of France. The American cruised through the first set 6-1 and although Gicquel did offer more resistance in the next two sets, Roddick still won them 6-4 6-4 to seal his place in round three. Roddick, who has the fastest serve in men's tennis has been in great form lately. The American reached the finals of Wimbledon in July before losing an epic five-set match to World No. 1 Roger Federer. The American made his breakthrough six years when he won the Montreal Masters 1000 Event and backed this up by winning in Cincinnati, and then the US Open, that triumph at the US Open remains Roddick's only Grand Slam title. If the American can maintain his superb recent form then it would take a brave person to Bet against him going all the way and winning the title on Sunday week.
