Jo-Wilfried Tsonga finds a dead spot at the Australian Open

How do you make a 120 mph serve unreturnable? By having it bounce no more than 18 inches off the court. Serving in his fourth-round match against Nei Nishikori, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga managed to find a dead spot on the court at Hisense Arena. His serve hit the spot, then skittered toward the baseline, not taking the usual expected hop. The problem was quickly solved by drilling holes into the court and letting the air bubble free. It's the second straight year a dead spot has been found on Hisense. Maria Sharapova discovered one last year and officials tested the area by dropping a ball onto it. When the ball stuck to the court without moving, like the blue surface was velcro, it provided a hilarious visual for media outlets worldwide to run in bloopers clips for eternity. Officials wisely didn't repeat that maneuver on Monday. That's alright though, as it gives us a chance to embed the clip again.
