“Keep your paws off of married men home wrecker!”  Well Maria Sharapova didn’t say that exactly, but that pretty much sums it up. After beating Maria in the French Open, Serena Williams did an interview with the Rolling Stone, where she appeared to take a few subliminal shots at her arch nemesis. Below is an excerpt from the article. “There are people who live, breathe and dress tennis. I mean, seriously, give it a rest.” Serena exits the car and the conversation moves on to a top-five player who is now in love. “She begins every interview with ‘I’m so happy. I’m so lucky’—it’s so boring,” says Serena in a loud voice. “She’s still not going to be invited to the cool parties. And, hey, if she wants to be with the guy with a black heart, go for it.” However it didn’t take long before word traveled back to Maria, but this time Maria was prepared to strike back. According to the Huff Post’s Sports News, Maria was asked about Serena’s subliminal comments pertaining to her and her man in the Rolling Stone during a pre-tournament press conference. “Obviously I have a tremendous amount of respect for Serena and what she’s achieved on the court.  If she wants to talk about something personal, maybe she should talk about her relationship and her boyfriend that was married and is getting a divorce and has kids. Talk about other things, but not draw attention to other things.” Serena has confirmed she is in fact in a relationship with her French boo, although she has avoided questions in relations to his marital status. Since they have gone forward in their public relationship it has been confirmed he was in fact married then, married now, and has children as well. Wimbledon should be very interesting. UPDATE: Serena Williams isn’t trying to start a personal attack with Maria. She has since issued an apology while stating her comments were taken out of context. “She was inadvertently brought into the situation by assumptions made by the reporter,” Williams said Sunday in London during her pre-Wimbledon news conference. “I personally talked to Maria at the player party, incidentally. I said, ‘Look, I want to personally apologize to you if you are offended by being brought into my situation. I want to take this moment to just pour myself, be open, say I’m very sorry for this whole situation.’ “
