Bleacher Report:
World #3 Rafael Nadal produced a solid performance in sending off Frenchman Gael Monflis and reach the Quarter Finals of the US Open.
Nadal reached the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows last year and is now aiming to capture the U.S. Open title for the first time in his career.
Monflis had the better start to the match, as he eeked out the first set in a tiebreaker, but Nadal fought back to win the next three sets 6-3, 6-1, and 6-3 to move into the quarter finals against Fernando Gonzalez of Chile.
Nadal looked set to dominate world tennis last year when he won the Wimbledon title, took gold at the Olympics and reached the world #1 ranking for the first time in his career.
Though a knee injury this summer prevented the Spaniard from being able to defend his Wimbledon title, Nadal now seems to now be near his best and will be keen to complete a career Grand Slam on Sunday.
If Nadal can maintain this form then it would take a brave person to bet against him going all the way and win...
