One of the brightest stars in tennis, Rafael Nadal is being forced to withdraw from the Rogers Cup in early August due to a right wrist injury. Nadal captured the Rogers Cup last year, a tournament that many consider to be the ‘next in line’ in terms of prestige after the four majors. This news is coming after Nadal had a poor showing in this year’s Wimbledon, which saw him lose his #1 ranking in the world to Novak Djokovic. Nadal also mentioned that he will not be attending the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati after the Rogers Cup. Missing two key tune-up events prior to the last major of the season puts Nadal’s chances for a US Open title at Flushing Meadows in doubt.
