Bleacher Report:
World No. 2 Rafael Nadal has withdrawn from next week's Thailand Open in Bangkok due to an abdominal injury.
The injury appeared to cause the Spaniard a great deal of discomfort at the US Open, although he did reach the semifinals where he was hammered by eventual champion Juan Martin Del Potro 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.
Nadal appeared to have the tennis world at his feet when he won the Australian Open in Melbourne earlier this year.
That result meant that Nadal held three out of the four majors; however, the Spaniard suffered a shocking four-set loss to Robin Soderling in the fourth round of the French Open. It was the Spaniard's first loss at Roland Garros.
A knee injury then prevented Nadal from defending his titles at Queens or Wimbledon. As a result Nadal lost the world No. 1 ranking to Roger Federer.
The Spaniard must now rest for 10 days, but hopefully he can be back to his best for the end of the season and the Masters Cup in London.
If Nadal is able to find his best form, then...
