Simon Rallies to Gain Bucharest Semis

Gilles Simon Two-time former Bucharest champion Gilles Simon had to come back from a set down to defeat fifth seed Lukasz Kubot 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Top seeded Simon who own the championship in 2007 and 2008 will meet Matthias Bachinger in Saturday’s semi. The upset of the day came from unknown Hungarian qualifier Attila Balazs, who surprised Belgian Xavier Malisse 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Balazs will play Fabio Fognini who topped sixth-seeded Andreas Seppi for a spot in the final.
