Bleacher Report:
In tennis circles, 2009 will be remembered, among other things, for being the year that Roger Federer won the French Open for the first time in his career and became the most prolific Grand Slam winner of all time.
Federer had made the finals of the French Open for the last three years but lost each time to the Spaniard Rafael Nadal. Given the fact that Nadal is regarded by many as the greatest clay court player of all time, many believed the French Open would continue to prove elusive to Federer.
That all changed this year when Nadal suffered a shocking fourth-round defeat at the French Open to Robin Soderling. Soderling went on to reach the final of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career. So while Federer's French Open victory will always be remembered, it shouldn't be forgotten that Soderling's dream run paved the way for Federer's triumph.
If you are a Betting Odds person, then you would do well to back Nadal to regain his French Open title next year.Mo...
