Rafael Nadal shocked the tennis world (and betting underworld) when he lost on Sunday to some Swede seeded 23rd on the circuit
Robin Soderling. This was an upset of epic proportion. Nadal had never
lost on the clay at Roland Garros. He had never been taken to 5 sets
before. In 31 matches, he had only lost 7 sets in his pursuit of 5
straight French Open titles. Forget about his wins at Wimbledon, The
Australian Open, The US Open etc etc etc…

Soderling had never made it past the 3rd round in a Slam. Ever.

Yet, at the end of the day, Nadal retired as gracefully as he always wins.

“The true, I won four years in a row playing the same. That’s
the true. This year I play the same and I lost. What happen? I lost.
That’s it…So when one player [plays] bad, he must lose. That’s what
happened today. I have to accept with the same calm when I win than
when I lose.”

He continued with praise for the play of Soderling.

Over in the world of the NBA, the ‘King’ of the courts is apparently
too high up on the throne to shake hands with his competitors - or to
speak to the press after the Cavaliers flamed out.

And that is weak.
