Top-seeded Tomas Berdych was upset by Roberto Bautista-Agut of Spain 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 Friday in the quarterfinals of the Chennai Open.
Also, third-seeded Marin Cilic of Croatia lost 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 to Benoit Paire of France, while fourth-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland lost 6-2, 7-6 (6) to unseeded Slovakian player Aljaz Bedene.
Second-seeded Janko Tipsarevic advanced among the top four, stopping No. 8 Go Soeda of Japan 6-2, 6-4.
In the semifinals, Bautista-Agut will play Paire and Tipsarevic will take on Bedene.
