Fires Force Cancellation of Western States 100 Endurance Run
For the first time in 35 years, the famous Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run will not take place. Race officials announced the run's cancellation citing three main factors; the proximity of current wildfires to the race course, air quality deterioration and the safety of runners.
Kudos to Greg Soderlund (Race Director) and Tim Twietmeyer (Western States Board President) for making this sensible, but difficult decision. Athletes train extensively for this world famous event and it couldn't have been an easy decision to cancel the event. 2 Comments On: "Fires Force Cancellation of Western States 100 Endurance Run"
