Tragedy at U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in NYC

The shocking death of U.S. distance Ryan Shay overshadowed a record performance by Ryan Hall earlier today. A former NCAA champion and 5-time U.S. Road-Racing Champion, Shay was hoping to earn one of the three marathon spots on the U.S. Olympic team in 2008. Instead, he collapsed around mile 5 in Central Park after suffering what appears to be heart failure. The autopsy will likely take a week. Crazy. I ran in college and competed against this guy. One tough competitor.
