Kemper Qualifies for 3rd Olympic Games

Hunter Kemper came through in the clutch and secured the final spot on the US Olympic Triathlon team at the Hy-Vee ITU World Cup triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa . Kemper, who was the first to qualify for the US triathlon squad for Sydney in '00 and Athens in '04 found himself battling for the final team spot with Andy Potts down to the wire. Kemper joins teammates Jarrod Shoemaker and Matt Reed in representing the best American draft legal triathletes heading to Beijing.

Congrats to Hunter. He made it happen. I really thought that Andy would nail that last slot on the team. He looked awesome at Alcatraz and has been crushing at the races.

Yeah, I thought it was Andy's spot to lose, too. With Hunter suffering from injury, it looked like Andy had the edge. Hunter just shows once again he is an Olympian through and through. (make that three times through)

I wonder if Potts will give it another go in 4 years or stick to the long course racing. He's proven he has what it takes for the half.
