DeSean Jackson signs 4-Year Deal With the Eagles

Eagles signed the 49th pick of the draft to a 4 year deal to an undisclosed amount. This is great news for those fans who have been begging for a deep threat WR since T.O left.

Swoop is making a great comeback, closing the gap to 52 to 48% chief zee.

If you have pride in your fandom and the Eagles then vote for Swoop and bring us to victory. The Redskins fans aren't nearly as intense as us and we have to prove it. Spread the word and vote for Swoop. If you've voted vote again so we double the number of votes and turn the tide in our favor.

Are we gonna let those Redskin fans beat us? The fans that pelted Santa with snowballs, the boo-birds, I'm disgusted. So get out there and vote for Swoop or you're letting the terrorists win!

NFL Power Rankings with reasoning behind the picks.

NFL 2008 Power Ranker: Based on the draft, performance down the stretch, past records, and schedule.

1.

Indianapolis Colts: Consistently elite, with Peyton, Wayne, Harrison, and Gonzalez the passing attack is still the best of the best, maybe some inter division competition from the Jags will help them.

2.

San Diego Chargers: L.T. is too good to stay out unless he's really hurt, I think he'll be back to lead the bolts with a vengeance. The weak link Rivers, similar situation to the Giants as long as he doesn't hurt the team they will be fine.

3.

New England Patriots:This was the hardest one and they could be at 17 the way the off season played out so far. I know they lost the SB but I just couldn't find a spot lower then three for a team that has Brady and Moss.

4.

Cleveland Browns: On paper the Browns look like the division champs hands down but I don't know if last year was a fluke, but with the plethora of off season additions this team has reached elite status if they live up to the hype.

5.

Pittsburgh Steelers: They won the SB a while ago, have a pro-bowl QB and WR, and a stout defense that while aging is still one of the best in the NFL. Mike Tomlin held down the fort well enough for his first year and the team should only adjust to him better so that's why there top five material.

6.

Philadelphia Eagles: Donovan McNabb's play towards the end of the year was top notch, and it translated through the team making them as good as any off the playoff teams down the stretch, the weak receiving corps is overshadowed by Westbrook and the offensive line. The addition of Asante to an already potent secondary helps put them in the top ten.

7.

Dallas Cowboys: Romo's performance may be padded by the outstanding corps of Owens, Glenn, and Whiten, so I'm not sold on his ability yet, and being the only number 1 seed to lose in their first game of the playoffs doesn't help their cause. But 13-3 is still 13-3 so they make the top ten.

8.

New Orleans Saints: Drew Brees is still slinging, and with a healthy backfield of Bush, Duece, and Stecker this offense has great potential.

9.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Not quite sold on them and Garrard but you cannot count out the playoff appearances, or Garrads' three picks in the regular season and Fred Taylors long awaited pro-bowl appearance.

10.

Seattle Seahawks: The NFC West is arguably the weakest division in the NFL next to the AFC East if you exclude the Pats. The Seahawks have the division title to lose at this point and the only competition I see may be the Rams or the Cardinals and their high powered offenses, but their defenses are just to easy to score on so don't count on it.

11.

New York Giants: They won the SB but I'm not sold on Eli yet it just didn't feel right. Their defense, along with their running game keeps them in the top 15.

12.

Cincinnati Bengals: We'll see how the Ocho Cinco situation pans out, then we'll talk top ten. Carson Palmer still has Chad and TJ so until they go this is still a highly explosive offense. Bottom line: Don't count them out.

13.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Garcia is aging and back injuries may hold his tenacious style of play back, Ronde Barber is no spring chicken either, but the division is still up for grabs.

14.

Arizona Cardinals: What's there to say, Fitzgerald and Boldin at WR and Kurt Warner at QB.

15.

Green Bay Packers: Without Brett I don't think the Packers' hearts will be with Green Bay for at least a year.

16.

Washington Redskins: I'm not sold on Campbell yet but he played well enough with the WR's he had so I think the draftees will only improve their chances. Losses of Sean Taylor and Joe Gibbs will hurt the team in the long run.

17

St. Louis Rams: On paper the offense looks great but their record was horrible and I just don't know how they will come out of the gates after last year.

18

Denver Broncos: Looking to improve on a decent season with a more mature Jay Cutler and a solid defense they should improve. Brandon Marshall's health is the only question.

19.

Minnesota Vikings: ADRIAN PETERSON - VERY GOOD, TRAVARIS JACKSON - VERY BAD. Final result same as last year give or take a few games.

20.

Tennessee Titans: Vince Young has some weapons lets see how he uses them.

21.

Detroit Lions: John Kitna should stop making promises he cannot keep. Look for some friction in the locker room from the star wide outs this year.

22.

Carolina Panthers: Steve Smith is in a tough place he's the shining star in a lackluster offense. Jake Delhomme will probably need time to get back to his usual level.

23.

Houston Texans: Hey, they had their first non-losing season in franchise history they can only get better but I'm not betting on it.

24.

New York Jets: QB controversy will hurt this team and someone needs to be named the starter before the beginning of the season or the Jets don't have much of a chance.

25.

Buffalo Bills: Bright spots Marshawn Lynch and Trent Edwards, and that's about it, good news is it's not a hard division to get second place in, bad news is you get to play the Patriots twice a year.

26.

Baltimore Ravens: Great secondary and LB core but the offense is in flux and a new head coach and a QB situation don't help the process of stabilizing for another run.

27.

Miami Dolphins: Will only be better then last year but not by much. The rebuilding project will take a while to reap it's rewards.

28.

Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan is the key. If he can turn the franchise around much like Donovan McNabb did for the Eagles and Tom Brady did for the Patriots in 2000 he may very well be an elite QB.

29.

San Francisco 49ers: I really don't want to talk about them because it makes me nauseous. Good news is Isaac Bruce that's it.

30.

Chicago Bears: Rex Grossman has one more chance and with the loss of his starting WRs and an aging defense I don't see them being very good. Just pray Devin Hester touches the ball every time.

31.

Kansas City Chiefs: No QB, Larry Johnson may be overrated or he's just overworked, and they don't have a Dante Hall to help them out of the mess they're in. Bright spot Tony Gonzalez.

32.

Oakland Raiders: Until Al Davis leaves they are stuck at the bottom for a while.

Eagles Vs. Bucs, a Rivalry? Think about it.

Rivalry normally isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Eagles vs. Bucs but if you think about it there have been some pretty memorable match ups in recent history. From McNabb's first ever NFL game which was against the Bucs to the crushing 62 yard field goal that stymied the Eagles comeback in the closing seconds of the 2006 match up there's been some great football between these two NFC teams.

Here are some of the Eagles - Bucs games in the past.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

First met in 1977

7-7 series tied (Playoffs tied 2-2)

This is a relatively new rivalry in the NFL. The Eagles won several straight games in the early 2000s, including two playoff wins in Veterans Stadium which ultimately cost Tony Dungy his job as Buccaneers head coach at the conclusion at the end of the 2001-02 season. Philadelphia won the next meeting in the regular season of the following year, only to be defeated by Tampa Bay in the NFC Championship game in the final game at The Vet. Since that game the series has been reversed, with Tampa winning both subsequent meetings between the two teams.

* Signature moment: In 1979, Tampa Bay had its first winning season and earned a trip to the playoffs, where they upset the Eagles in the divisional round for their first playoff win.

* Signature moment: On January 12, 2002 the Eagles crushed the Buccaneers at Veterans Stadium in the Wild Card Round of the NFL playoffs, 31-9, one year after having defeated them 21-3. It would prove to be the last game Tony Dungy coached as head of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

* Signature moment: In the last game ever to be played at The Vet, the Eagles once again faced the Bucs, this time in the NFC Championship game on January 19, 2003, trying to advance to their first Super Bowl since Super Bowl XV. Instead, Tampa Bay won its first playoff road game in franchise history. The Eagles scored less than a minute into the game thanks to a long kickoff return followed by a Duce Staley touchdown run. Tampa, behind the strength of its league-best defense, rebounded and won the game 27-10, with Ronde Barber's 92 yard interception return for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter being the clincher. The Bucs went on to defeat Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII. The teams opened the following season against each other in the first game for the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. Once again, the Bucs walked away victorious, winning 17-0.

* Signature moment: In a Week 7 match-up of the 2006 season, the Buccaneers led at home 17-7 after three quarters (with the Bucs' two touchdowns coming on interceptions by Ronde Barber, but the Eagles took the lead 21-20. With only 4 seconds remaining, kicker Matt Bryant gave Tampa Bay a 23-21 win with an amazing 62-yard field goal.

Interview with DeSean Jackson.

Found this on the Eagles website. Jackson sounds like a good fit for the Eagles. Humble-pie anyone? Enjoy.

Osi Umenyiora holds out. Could be good news for the Eagles.

This is the same man who wrecked Winston Justice and sacked Donovan seven times. If he doesn't get the money (which he'll probably get) he could be somewhere else not sacking Donovan. This could be great news for us. I've found a nice article on the holdout and posted it below. Another good thing for us is the elimination of the force out rule because we rarely throw to the corner and back of the endzone where as the Giants do with Plaxico. This could mean less TDs for the Giants or it could be wishful thinking on my part. Any way hope you enjoy the quick read.

Comparing Greats: Farve and McNabb

Great article comparing the Green Bay resurrecting, gunslinging, everyday normal guy Brett Favre to the often crucified by the media even though he turned this franchise around Donovan McNabb. It talks about their play, relationship with the fans, their love of the game, and what it would be like if they switched places. Any way great article and it gives us something other then the WR needs to talk about.

Why does Dave Spadaro avoid the Eagles WR issue?

Every Dave Spadaro article I've read seems to avoid addressing the reality that our WRs are under achievers and are just not very talented (except Curtis). The thing that gets me is how can you not bash our WRs but openly lobby to trade McNabb (which he had done in a few articles last year) .When I read his articles about Eagles needs or who they should draft he either briefly mentions them or just plain skips the subject. My question to you is why don't the Eagles or Dave Spadaro acknowledge the WR position? Do they assume that a healthier offense will be that much better?

The article I've posted is just one example of the many articles Dave has written and not mentioned WRs.

Also if you've heard anything on the Chad Johnson situation feel free to comment on that because I have no idea whats happening there.

Top Ten Mobile Quarterbacks of All-Time: #10 Donovan McNabb

Not sure why he's only #10 but I think it has something to do with the fact that he doesn't want to be labeled a running QB. Any way a great reminder for us Eagles fans of how lucky we are to have such a GREAT QB. They also have a great video tribute to Randell Cunningham at number 2 or 3 I 'm not sure.

What will it take to get Chad Johnson?

Everybody knows he's "not available" but I think he's made it clear he's going to be somewhere else next year. What are your thoughts on what it will take to get him and the chances of a trade occuring (Imagine how nasty the McNabb Johnson combo would be). I also read on NFL.com that TJ Houshmanzada might hold out for a new deal, and I thought that we had WR problems. I've posted the link for the TJ situation.

rate it:

If this Fitz trade doesn't work out should the Eagles go after Steve Smith?

We still need a # 1 WR and there is one just wasting away in Carolina. Jake Delhomme is hurt every year and this time his arm is so screwed up he may not ever return to form and the team has started to rebuild. Should the Eagles look to trade Lito and a pick for Steve Smith? Everybody wins, we get a # 1 WR and Carolina gets a young stud player and a draftee to start rebuilding.
rate it:

Are the Eagles going to land WR Roy Williams?

I've heard a lot of rumors about this but is there honestly any chance of the Eagles acquiring him in a trade? We would probably have to trade Lito and a pick.

Which WR has the best chance to come to Philly?

With all these rumors flying around about Larry Fitz, Ocho Cinco, and Roy Williams which WR has the best chance of wearing midnight green come September?
