Bad weekend in Lexington!!

Lexington was not a fun place to be this past weekend, The b-ball Cats lose to VMI, then the football Cats lose a heartbreaker to Vandy.

Billy G's Cats couldn't handle midmajor VMI, losing two years straight to a midmajor,.......AT RUPP!!! And Rich Brooks' Cats fought thier way back only to lose a nail biter to Vandy.....I hope this week is better in the Bluegrass....Billy G travels to North Carolina and Rich travels to Tennessee...Go Blue Cats!!

What happend in Rupp Friday night?

What just happend in Rupp? Did Kentucky lose to VMI? The Virginia Millitary Institute Keydets came in and run the entire length of the court for 40 solid minutes and the Cats could not keep up. The Cats lead one time at 97-95. That was it. They did fight their way back from being down 21 points, but this is UK, they shouldn't have to fight their way back, especially at RUPP!!!! Flashbacks of Gardner-Webb kept running through my mind. I will say this.....VMI is one of the best three point teams I have seen. They were supposed to have lead the country in scoring the last 2 years....but had losing records??? I hope the Cats can rebound..

Daniel Orton out for season...

Recent UK recruit Daniel Orton will likely miss most of his senior year due to surgery on his left knee. The 6'10" 260 lbs bigman will wear the Blue and White next year, and (in my opinion) is making a smart move by having the surgery now. It would put a bad start on a college career to have to sit out the first season, I guess a medical redshirt would be an option, but I feel Orton is ready to go to the next level and would not opt for a redshirt. Speedy recovery Orton, hurry down to Lexington!

WOW! Those UK Cats look good in exhibition game.

111-53. I know it was St Louis Mo., but I liked the score. Josh Harrelson-21pts12 reb, Patterson 24 pts 11 reb, Meeks 27 pts, Freshman Darius Miller 14 pts 7 reb, Ramon Harris added 12 pts and 5 rebs. 5 players in dbl figures, 2 in dbl-dbl. I know this was an under powered team they were playing, but I like the way they looked. Watch out UNC, the cats are coming for you. PS Don't be fooled by UK not being ranked in preseason, lets look at the rankings come Jan......Go BlueCats

Let me hear you Barkers! Can Kentucky pull out a win in the Swamp?

Could it happen? Could UK rally a 4th quarter victory over Florida with a beaten, broken roster? Anything is possible in the SEC...right? Let me hear ya Yardbarkers!

Gillispie gets his man!

Uk has received commitment from Danial Orton a 6'10" 270 lbs center that is ranked 10th overall in the class of 09'. He is the 2nd ranked center of 09'. UK is looking poised for a championship run in the next couple of years.

Here come the Blue Cats!

Wow!! Did the Cats look great Friday night or what. UK is really looking poised for a return to the top. I mean a 20 man roster, and almost half of them are 6'7" or bigger! This is going to be a great year in the Bluegrass. And this should be another undefeated SEC run as well. Watch yourself UNC, the other color blue is coming.

Can Kentucky beat Alabama?

Could it be possible? Can this upset happen? I will say yes. USC didn't see it coming, and Bama' doesn't neither. Kentucky is starting to gel as a unit and the defense.....hasn't given up a TD yet! Hartline is starting to lead his offense, and overall the Cats look to pull one out Saturday. This will surely make UK a legit top 25 team. We have hung around at 26 or 27 for weeks now. It is time UK breaks in the top 25, and after beating #2 Alabama, this should put them around #21. I really think Kentucky has a shot at beating the Tide, but they will have to stop them early.

Madness is upon us!

A little over 2 weeks and we will see the first look at UK. Oh how grand it will be to see the boys in blue on the court again. To see the freshman class that will help lead us to another ring. It may not be this year, but it's coming...soon. Move over Gators, the Cats are back!

If this Orton kid signs, watch out, we could be seeing some gold in Lexington as soon as next year.

I can't handle 4 more years!

I am not going to say Obama is the one, but I can't handle 4 more years like the last 8. I am a registered Republican, I'll vote anything. So help me this country is in an economic decline. If anyone can say different, then they must have just returned from a big rock on the other side of Mars. I am afraid to think what we will look like in 2012 if we continue with these half cocked, brainless ideas that the Republicans have come up with over the last 8 years. Obama may not be as honest as he appears. He makes you want to believe that he is for the working class. This all may be a crock, but he surely won't be as bad as GW! GO UK, CATS ALL THE WAY IN 08'!

Billy Gillispie at it again!

Just when you thought Billy G had parked the recruit wagon, stopped handing out UK hats, and pledging playing time to High School Seniors, he does it again. With only a few days left in August, BCG has landed yet another recruit for 08'-09'. Donald Williams, a 6'5" shooting gaurd from Maryland has commited to UK for the upcoming season. Williams who is not much of a slasher, is however a pure shooter. Although he is only a 3 star, he should compliment fellow freshman Darius Miller, DeAndre Liggins and transfers Keven Galloway and Josh Harrellson real nice. All is looking up in the Bluegrass.

WWE needs a STONECOLD, bad!

Is it just me or has the WWE gotten really common these days? I mean, the entire program is riding the backs of John Cena and Dave Batista!

They are both talented superstars, but I don't think neither can carry a program. Not like Stone Cold or the Rock did. These guys carried the show for ever, I mean people would tune in just to see Stone Cold stun somebody or see the Rocks electrifying promo. I mean Cena ia awsome, and I really like Batista, but these guys may not be big enough stars to do it. They do have help from The Heart Break Kid, HHH, Jericho, and JBL, but lets face it, these guys couldn't hold a candle to the career of Steve Austin! Vince really needs to try and get Austin a little TV time, maybe every other Monday. At least let him come to the ring and drink! I found myself watching a documentary on one of our public channels last night and almost missed all of RAW. If I had a chance to see those double kickstands in the air, the beer swilling redneck toss back a few, and hear "Gimme a hell yeah" I would have most definatly stayed tune into RAW. Wake up Vince!

College Football, baby! You gotta love it!

It's on its way; crisp fall evenings, tail-gating, Brauts, cold beer, the band is playing. Oh yes college football in the south is here!

There is nothing better than drinking cold beer and eating dogs and brauts, dragging yourself up in the stands 5 min before kickoff.

Your team receives the ball first, 5 plays and 68 yards later they reach the End zone and the stadium erupts. No there can't be much that is better than this. Even if the scene was a little different; Sitting in the backyard, grill burning, cooler is ice cold, 4 or 5 buddies sitting around a radio, how grand. Or try this one; You and your boys sitting belly up to the bar, cold pitcher of draft in front of you, 2 baskets of wings, 2 ranch, and 1 blue cheese for your cousin,( cause he likes that stuff) and a 27" TV, watching UGA vs Florida, or my personal favorite UK vs Louisville. Many ways to enjoy this, huh. How about 8 of your closest friends, ( And your wifes brother who doesn't really like football but is trying to bond with you) all sitting in your living room watching your new 64" flat screen, and of course cold beer and brauts from your new grill. Any way you take it, there is nothing on earth like college football in the south!

Why was Vol's Chris Lofton snubbed in the draft?

As I watched the '08 draft I found myself entertained by the picks. I thought I had it figured out, I thought Digger and Jay had it figured out. For the most part all was...well sorta right. I was suprised Joe Crawford went and Ramel Bradley didn't. I thought Bradley's slasher/showboat style would fit well in the NBA. I was even more so suprised, nay I say shocked, that Chris Lofton didn't go. I can't figure why the once leading 3 pt % shooter in the NCAA was not drafted. Could it be his lack of talent...(NOT), his lack of heart...(thats funny)....lack of character...(Give me a break) Then what was it,...I hope it had nothing to with his scare with cancer. Oh yes the story that broke early this year, how Chris had cancer and kept it private..How he fought it throughout the year. That explains the up and down year he had, the lack of playing time. Chris, even during his bout with cancer, was still a force on the court. He still carried himself with dignity, a real model student-athlete. Should he have taken a medical redshirt?..Some will argue yes. Was he offered a medical redshirt?..Only a few know..Was UT on the verge of a monumental season and their first NCAA Championship?..Maybe..Did they stand a chance without Lofton?..Not a prayer. Was this the reason Lofton struggled his last season and maybe hurt his draft chances? Should he have taken a medical redshirt, sat out the year and heal, mind and body? Come out this year stronger than ever, and maybe be a first rounder?... where he belonged! Well I guess we will never know. It is sad to think that the former Ky Mr. Basketball will be playing in Turkey and not in the U.S. Good luck Chris..

Kentucky, on the road to the Final Four?

It does seem likely, almost certain that UK will be back on top in the next couple of years. But what about this season? I feel as if this year will be a banner year for Billy G and his young blue army. The way it is stacking up, the SEC will not post much of a challenge for the Big Blue. This should clear the way for an undefeated conf. run. I see a chance for one loss early in pre conf, and that may be to UNC. With Patterson healthy, and Meeks healthy, Harrelson offering additional support in the paint, Stevenson and Harris continue to dominate and pick up where they left off. Throw in frosh Darius Miller and newcomers Liggons, and Halloway, and by golly we may be dancing the first week of April ! Now I don't want sound overly optimistic, but UK has been down off the mountain long enough. I know once they are Kings of the Hardwood again, it will be bliss to hear the cries from light blue Carolina state.
