Swing Game: History Proves That Gap Between 6-4 and 5-5 Is Huge

In case there was uncertainty about the importance of Sunday's game between Dallas and Washington, history tells us there is a big swing for teams that go 5-5 vs 6-4.

Since the NFL adopted the six-team playoff format in 1990. 67% of teams with a 6-4 record after 10 games have made the playoffs. Teams having a 5-5 record after 10 games make the playoffs 29.9% of the time. Needless to say, this is a big game for the Cowboys if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Texas Tech's Dream Season Ends On The Night of November 22nd

Well, here I sit getting geared up for what is going to be the biggest football game in Norman, Oklahoma since the year 2000. The Oklahoma Sooners take on the high-flying Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas Tech has played very well on the road this year, but this will be in an atmosphere like no other that they have played in in the last few years. Personally, I think the pressure is all on Tech to execute in this game and prove that they belong in the BCS championship game. I would not bet against Bob Stoops in a Big XII game that is this big.

Both offenses rank very high in the Big XII and national standings. Both Graham Harrell and Sam Bradford have outstanding statistics and huge offensive lines. The one area that I would definitely favor OU in is on the defensive side of the ball. Yes, Tech has a defense better than it has had in the past, but stopping the no-huddle offense of Oklahoma will be a big test for them. I don't think they can cover all of the guns. The Oklahoma defense has the speed and discipline to make Tech's offense sputter. Bob Stoops and Brent Venables have always come up with a good defensive game plan for the Red Raiders and this game should be no different. The only person on the Red Raiders' offense that scares me is Michael Crabtree. Harrell will see a multitude of defensive schemes designed to get pressure on him up the middle.

Oklahoma also has the added motivation of knowing they blew their season last year in Lubbock when Sam Bradford went down early in the game with an inury and the Red Raiders beat the Sooners. This should be an offensive show in Norman. I think the Sooners prevail 42-27 and put an end to Tech's dream season. I'll be there to enjoy the atmosphere. Pics will come later.

Blake Griffin Named To AP All-American Team

The Sooners are expected to make some noise in the Big 12 and nationally this year with Blake Griffin and new hotshot point guard Willie Warren coming in to run the offense.

It Looks Like It's Official: My Cowboys Stink

Wow......what a difference a season makes. As some of the bloggers on here have accused me of hiding out, maybe it's because I am working 16 hours a day since August. And, it may be a good thing that I am. I have been to one game at TX Stadium this season after attending almost every game for 19 years. It least it was a win over the Eagles.

I would have to agree with Steve Young's comment a week or two ago.....and there are several who agree.......that the present Cowboy team lacks leadership.....both on the coaching front and among the players. There are no vocal leaders on offense. Bradie James is sort of the vocal leader on defense, but still not strong enough. I think that the defense has given up......it was plain as day in the NYG game. The defense sees the offense doing nothing and they get discouraged and quit playing. Looks like the Cowboys have some serious problems. I don't think these problems are totally due to injury, although many fans think that when Felix Jones, Newman, and Romo come back , all will be well. Well, the slide to mediocrity started in the NYG playoff game last season and has carried over to this season. The loss to St. Louis displayed a lot of holes in the offensive and defensive schemes of the Dallas Cowboys. Someone on this team needs to step up and call people out for their terrible play. Also, Jerry Jones should be villified for his handling of the backup QB position. Brad Johnson just doesn't have it anymore and Bollinger got thrown to the wolves without any success either. They should have gone after Chris Simms or someone that can lead an offense. It affects both sides of the ball and the whole team. Of course, no team in the NFL is going to win a Super Bowl with a backup QB and it's sure obvious this team won't win any more games with Johnson or Bollinger at QB. And, the pic of Romo laughing on the sidelines? I like Romo and the way he plays, but what was that all about from a supposed leader of the team?

I am not sure Wade Phillips is the man that can fix the mess, but if the Cowboys don't get a win at Washington after the bye week, they can kiss this season goodbye, which they probably can anyway. The NYG's have a big lead in the division now and, unless they totally collapse, will win it with 3 games to go in the season. Philly is looking like they may be back in the fold and Washington is playing well.

Darn, it sure is nice to be working so many hours now, so I don't have to watch the games like St. Louis and NYG. There is a big benefit to working so much.

Texas Top Breeding Ground For College QB's

Texas has always been known for producing top college talent. This season there are several starting QB's around the country that played high school football in Texas and it seems like there are more and more coming from the Lone Star state. Good article on who these stars are and where they are playing.

Wanna Bet I Don't Return As Fiverings After The Cowboys Win?

This is in response to Mr. JCC's article. He thinks he knows it all. Anyway, yes, this is Fiverings. I cannot sign into my old account for some odd reason and I really don't care anymore. And, I am not using CowboyDude or any other name at the moment. Mr. JCC reserves the right to change names any time he sees fit, but it's not OK for anyone else to do it. He's back to his old ways of talking smack where no smack talk is warranted. But, the best thing about the whole things is.............his team is 2-3, so that's why he is now distraught and talking smack about me. Actually, it makes him no better than anyone else on this damn board and I don't really give a flying **** what happens now. I was just hanging on until football season started and September 15th to see what happened. How do you like it now? I hope your team sinks into a hole they can't climb out of. You give a bad name to all Eagles fans and you stink. There you have it. If they kick me off now, I'll be laughing all the way out while watching your team stink it up again this seaon. Have fun going down with the ship, JCC.
