Horseshoe Casino Hammond Undercard-Nov. 21

For Immediate Release

"Double Down" Undercard at Horseshoe Casino Includes Miami's Joey Hernandez, Hopkins Sparring Partner & '08 Haitian Olympian Elie Augustam, Two Italians Make Their US Debuts Plus Chicagoans Carl "Iron Fist" Davis & Cedric "23" Agnew

Nov. 17 (CHICAGO, IL)- Richie Parrillo Jr. has released further details regarding "Double Down," an evening of championship boxing including three titles up for grabs on Friday, November 21st at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond. Special guest, boxing legend Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, will be ringside as Parrillo presents the10-bout card with a portion of the event ticket sales benefiting the area Boys & Girls Clubs.

In addition to Eric Mitchell (22-4-1, 11 KOs) vs. Danny Perez (33-5, 17 KOs) for the USBA and NABO junior middleweight titles and Aaron Mitchell (26-1-1, 21 KOs) vs. Delray Raines (14-4, 9 KOs) for the NABO middleweight strap, "Double Down" features an action packed undercard of undefeated contenders and rising prospects including Joey "Twinkle Fingers" Hernandez (13-0, 6 KOs), an undefeated junior middleweight prospect from Miami.

Possessing talent, good looks and an enviable lifestyle, 24-year-old Joey Hernandez Jr. has a tremendous fan following among the young and beautiful in south Florida. He also has a lot of "haters." The son of one of south Florida's most successful contractors, Hernandez grew up in a privileged household.

"Since I didn't grow up poor in the ghetto, a lot of people think I can't possibly have that hunger to win," Hernandez said. "I'm going to prove to all the 'haters' who want to see me get knocked out that I have just as much desire to be a champion as anyone else."

" My dad is the American Dream," Joey continued. "He came here from Cuba with absolutely nothing and built a big, successful business. I have my own dreams and they include a world championship."

In 2002, after beating Rock Allen at a national amateur tournament, Joey seemed to have an immediate future as a professional boxer. Instead, he became distracted and began running the streets and getting in trouble.

It seems that rich boys rebel too.

In 2006, he grew up, got it together and made his professional debut before a huge crowd of fans at Miccosukee Resort in Miami.

Since then, he's built a perfect record of 13-0 with 6 knock outs and has grown a south Florida fan base to

rival many young athletes in Miami. Popular with the area's young media and welcomed as a VIP in the hottest clubs on South Beach, Joey just might be the boxer you love to hate.

Hernandez faces Jessie Davis (10-11, 7 KOs) over 8 rounds.

Just two weeks ago, Elie Augustam, a 2008 Olympian from Haiti, won his professional debut by knock out. Living and training in Miami, Augustam recently got the educational opportunity of a lifetime when he served as a sparring partner for living legend Bernard Hopkins as The Executioner was preparing for his recent spectacular drubbing of Kelly Pavlik.

Elie faces Tyrone Dowdy (4-16, 3 KOs) in a 4-round middleweight bout.

Don King promoted heavyweight Carl " Iron Fist" Davis (12-2, 9) of Chicago aims to impress his hometown crowd on November 21. On September 13, Davis scored a sixth round knock out on King's card in Biloxi.

At 6' 4" and 235 pounds of solid muscle, Davis, a former Canadian Football League (CFL) player, possesses the kind of big punching knock out power that fight fans love. With a victory on November 21, Davis should have enough wins on record to break into the heavyweight rankings, thus leading to bigger opportunities.

One of Chicagoland's hottest prospects, Cedric "23" Agnew, faces Chris Ray (7-2, 7 KOs) in a 6-round light heavyweight bout. After an extensive amateur career that included winning the Junior Olympic World Championship at the age of 17 and two Chicago Golden Gloves titles, Agnew scored a spectacular second round knock out in his pro debut in January of 2007.

Still just 21-years-old, Agnew hopes to be a champion by the time he is 23. He counts Chicago's great "23s", Michael Jordan and Devin Hester, among his heroes.

Two European prospects from Avezzano, Italy, make their American debuts at Horseshoe Casino. Don King promoted, Ivan Fiorletta (22-4-2, 7) faces Donnell Logan (10-17-2, 5 KOs) in a 6-round lightweight bout. Fiorletta's countryman, Gianapiero Contestable (11-0, 6), a sensation in Italy, puts his perfect record on the line in a 6-round featherweight bout.

Rounding out the card, welterweight Chris Rudd (5-0, 3 KOs), lightweight Ira Terry (20-1, 11 KOs), and junior middleweight Johnny Suarez (2-1-2, 1 KO) all see action in separate bouts.

Tickets are available for $200 VIP Ringside, $150 Ringside, $80 Main Floor and $40 Mezzanine from any Ticket Master location or from The Venue's box office at 219/473-6060.

Horseshoe Casino Hammond is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Chicago. From the Skyway, simply exit at Indianapolis Blvd.

Championship Boxing w/Boom Boom Mancini at Horseshoe's The Venue

Horseshoe Casino & Richie Boy Entertainment Presents Championship Boxing

Special Appearance by Boxing Legend Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini

$20k Donation & Additional Proceeds to Benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and NWI

October 29 (CHICAGO, IL)- Friday, November 21st, Richie Boy Entertainment (RBE) will present "Double Down," an evening of championship boxing at The Venue, Horseshoe Casino's spectacular new entertainment facility, located just 20 minutes from Chicago. The first boxing event presented at Horseshoe Hammond since the new $500 million casino was built, the action-packed card includes ten bouts with three titles at stake and a special appearance by boxing legend Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini.

Richard "Richie" Parrillo Jr., President of RBE, will celebrate the launch of his boxing promotional company by making a $10,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago and a $10,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Indiana. In addition, RBE will donate a portion of the event's ticket sales to both Boys & Girls Clubs.

"We have always been committed to giving back to our community and feel strongly about the good work the Boys & Girls Clubs do across the country," said Parrillo. "RBE intends to grow our boxing promotional business right here in this region, so I feel a personal responsibility, and privilege, to support the local Boys & Girls Clubs. The programs provided by these clubs truly make a positive impact on the lives of our children," he added.

"Richie's donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs is typical of his ' lead by example' character and I'm happy to be at the match to lend my name and support to his event," said Mancini.

In the evening's main event, Eric Mitchell (22-4-1, 11 KOs) faces Danny Perez (33-5, 17 KOs) in a 12-round battle for the USBA and NABO junior middleweight championship titles. Mitchell, one-half of Philadelphia's "Fighting Mitchell Twins," is on a six-fight win streak since dropping a 10-round unanimous decision to former world champion Ricardo Mayorga at Madison Square Garden.

Just last month, Eric's opponent, Danny Perez, won a unanimous decision over highly touted Julio Cesar Garcia of Mexico on the Joel Casamayor vs. Juan Manuel Marquez pay-per-view telecast from Las Vegas. Perez, a tough-as-nails Mexican fighter out of San Diego, holds wins over Marcos Primera and Jose Luis Zertuche. In June of 1999, Perez dropped Antonio Margarito in round one of an eight round bout, but lost a split decision by scores of 76-75 | 74-77 | 75-76. Three years later, Perez came up short in the rematch, losing a unanimous decision to Margarito for the WBO welterweight championship.

In the evening's co-main event, Eric Mitchell's identical twin brother, Aaron (26-1-1, 21 KOs), faces Delray Raines (14-4, 9 KOs) from Arkansas for the NABO middleweight championship. Aaron Mitchell has won his last 14 consecutive fights by knock out including one retirement.

Neither Mitchell brother nor Danny Perez has ever lost a bout by knock out.

Other featured fighters include Don King promoted heavyweight prospect Carl Davis (12-2, 9 KOs) of Chicago; former Junior Olympic World Champion and undefeated light heavyweight prospect Cedric Agnew (9-0, 4 KOs) of Chicago Heights; undefeated featherweight sensation Gianapiero Contestabil of Avezzano, Italy (11-0, 6); and, making his professional debut at middleweight, Eli Augustam, a 2008 Olympian from Haiti who most recently served as a sparring partner for living legend Bernard Hopkins as he prepared for his recent spectacular drubbing of Kelly Pavlik.

More details about " Double Down" and Richie Boy Entertainment will be released this week.

Tickets are available for $200 VIP Ringside, $150 Ringside, $80 Main Floor and $40 Mezzanine from any Ticket Master location or from The Venue's box office (219/473-6060).

Horseshoe Casino Hammond is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Chicago. From the Skyway, simply exit at Indianapolis Blvd.

ESPN "The Contender"'s Cisneros: "I'M FINALLY OUT OF THAT CONTENDER CONTRACT!" Solo Boxeo, Aug. 29 from Philly

ESPN "The Contender" Boxer Rudy Cisneros Returns v.s. Philly's Undefeated Latif Mundy- August 29

Cisneros: "I'M FINALLY OUT OF THAT CONTENDER CONTRACT!"

On August 29th, former "The Contender" boxer Rudy "El Cachorro" Cisneros (11-2. 10 KOs) of Chicago returns to the ring when he faces Philly's popular undefeated prospect Latif Mundy (8-0, 3 KOs) in an 8-round light middleweight bout in the co-main event of "Solo Boxeo." Presented by Don Chargin Promotions in association with Peltz Boxing and Joe Hand Promotions, Telefutura will broadcast live from South Philly's New Alhambra Arena to the US market as well as 70 foreign countries live at 8 p.m. EST.

A bronze medalist at the 2004 US Olympic Boxing Trials, Cisneros was a nationally known amatuer who amassed an impressive record of 150 wins with just 20 losses. In addition to winning two Chicago Golden Gloves titles and the US National Under-19 Championship, Cisneros' international experience includes competitions in Azerbaijan and the UK.

Along the way, Cisneros was chosen as one of 20 promising amateur boxers from across the US to attend college on full scholarship at Northern Michigan University's Olympic Education Center. While there, he did undergraduate studies while training daily with former Olympic Coach Al Mitchell.

Nicknamed "El Cachorro" for his love of Cubs baseball, Cisneros, whose parents emigrated from Mexico, has always been one of Chicagoland fight fans favorite all-action boxers. Highly skilled from his extensive amateur experience and always showing the "heart of a Mexican warrior," Cisneros made his professional debut in Chicago in June of 2004.

In 2005, Rudy's skill, good looks and appeal to the Hispanic market, helped him get tapped for season 2 of ESPN's reality show "The Contender." For nearly two months, Cisneros lived and trained at the luxurious Los Angeles gym and home where the series was taped. While there, Rudy was fortunate to spend time with boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard, the show's host.

Although Rudy came out on the short end of a 5-round split decision to another Mexican-American, Norberto Bravo, the toe-to-toe brawl proved Rudy has the heart of a warrior. Unfortunately for fight fans, the bout was edited down to just one minute per round to accommodate the television production. ESPN is available to 94 million homes in the US.

Since "The Contender," Bravo has 5 wins and 6 losses. Rudy, who until now was still under contract to "The Contender," has gone 3-0 winning all three by KO, but has only fought sporadically.

"That Contender contract has finally expired," Cisneros said. "Being part of the show was a great experience, but afterwards, I was still contractually bound to them and didn't get fights. Now that I'm a free agent, I am fully focused on my career and plan to make a big show in Philly against Mundy."

Rudy's training seems to show his dedication to winning a world championship. "I get up every morning at 3 a.m. and run 10 miles while my coach George Hernandez follows in the car," Cisneros explains.

"Then George drives me the rest of the way to O'Hare where I start my 5 a.m. shift with American Airlines. At 3 in the afternoon, I take the el (train) to Garfield Park to train with George and then I'm asleep before 8 p.m. That's it. Run, work, train, and sleep. I've never been more focused."

Tickets to "Solo Boxeo" at the New Alhambra Arena in South Philadelphia, priced at $40, $55 and $65, are available from 215/765-0922.

Peltz Boxing will present a full evening of world-class bouts featuring some a Philly's finest fighters before, during and after the two-hour telecast. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The first bout is at 7:15 p.m.

Cloud Storms the Light Heavyweight Division on ESPN2- Gonzalez Perhaps Too Brave for His Own Good

Most boxing fans had never actually seen undefeated light heavyweight contender Tavoris Cloud in action, but everyone had heard that "this Cloud kid" was something to see. Cloud lived up to the hype last night when he beat Julio Gonzalez by TKO in the 10th in the main event of "Friday Night Fights." Gonzalez, who fought Julian Letterlough in, perhaps, the greatest bout ever broadcast on ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights," is known for his steel chin and never-quit attitude. The former champ took unbelievable punishment throughout the bout, refusing to go down. He, and his corner, were perhaps, a bit too brave for Julio's health. Referee John O'Brien finally stepped in during the 10th to give Gonzalez his first loss before the distance.

Cloud, at 26-years-old, announced his arrival in spectacular fashion. With this win, he is next in line to face the winner of Tarver-Dawson. But after Cloud's showing last night, one has to wonder who is going to want to step into the ring with the young gun.

Stay tuned....

Lt. Hvwt Agnew Aims To Be Chicago's Next Great "23"

Undefeated prospect and WBC Continental Americas light heavyweight champion, Cedric Agnew (8-0, 4 KOs) of Chicago Heights, has been added to the undercard of the August 8th edition of ESPN2's "Friday Night Fights" which will be broadcast live from Chicago's Aragon Entertainment Center. Tavoris Cloud (18-0, 17) faces former world champ Julio Gonzalez (41-5, 25) in the main event for the IBF light heavyweight mandatory position.

At a time when Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins and Antonio Tarver are ending their illustrious careers with mega bouts on pay-per-view, Agnew, still just 21-years-old, seems to be maturing, both mentally and physically, at just the right time to rule the light heavyweight division for the next decade.

"Roy Jones is a fighter that I watched growing up," Agnew said. "He's a champion that I admire, but I'm the future of the division. I hope to be a world champion by the time I'm 23."

Twenty-three. It's a sacred number in Chicago.

Michaela€¦just one word.

And, although no one will ever match the-legend-that-is-Jordan, Chicago's other #23 greats include the Bears' rock star Devin Hester, 2005 World Series MVP, Jermaine Dye of the White Sox and Hall of Fame Cubbie Ryne Sandberg (retired).

"I wear the number '23' on my trunks because I want to be one of those great Chicago athletes."

At the age of 17, Agnew burst onto the boxing scene when he won the 2003 World Junior Olympic light heavyweight title. The following year, he won the US National Under-19 Championship and the second of two Chicago Golden Gloves titles.
