Today QB Derek Anderson re-upped with the Browns after agreeing to terms on a multiple-year contract, which means Browns QB
Brady Quinn will have to wait at least another year to get a shot as an NFL starter. Unless a trade is in the works.
Cleveland doesn't have a selection in either the first or second rounds of this April's NFL Draft. They traded the second-rounder for Green Bay DT Corey Williams, and they gave up the first-rounder last year to move up and select Quinn.
"If they are keeping Anderson, what does this do to the free agency plans? If Anderson eats $12 million, and another $6 goes to Corey Williams, that leaves the Browns with around $15-$17 million left to sign free agents and draft choices."
Adam Schefter of the NFL network reported that Anderson's contract guarantees more than $14 million, though neither Quinn nor the Browns have confirmed the details. The contract came only hours after Anderson became a restricted free agent.
