I'm Back!

What's goin on in the Yard?!?! I know I've been MIA for a while. My bad. It's been pretty hectic since the last time I stopped by. The season was accelerated due to the Olympics and I was focusing on my team. My team; we have not been living up to our own expectations this season. Of course, a huge wrench was thrown into the mix with Big Syl going down with her knee injury. But we finally got her back mid-July for a few games before the break, just to have our point guard, Dominique Canty, go down with HER knee injury. Thankfully, when the season resumes we will have both of them back at full strength. ('Nique just needed to clean out some floaties in her knee) So now we are sitting 3.5 games out of the last playoff spot in the East. I still think we have a good shot at making it. Both Washington and Indiana are having their shares of inconsistencies too, so maybe we can creep up on them!

As for the break...MUCH NEEDED!! I didn't go to a resort or vacation spot. I just chilled with some friends and took my mind off of basketball for a week. I play year-round, as do most of us WNBA-ers, so this down time was right on time! It's back to work in Chicago now. We will spend the break working on our weaknesses and strengthening our strengths so we can make this final push. You can probably catch me and my teammates out in the community since we will be doing a lot of appearances too. Speaking of community, I hosted my very own free basketball clinic on July 27th here in Chicago. Although we didn't have a HUGE Michael Jordan Camp turnout, the kids that attended had a great time! I think they walked away learning something new about the game of basketball, which is most important. I hope to be able to do this again next summer. It was lots of fun and if you don't know: CANDICE LOVES THE KIDS!

SHEESH!

Hey everybody,

Unless you've been under a rock, you know that we hit a rough patch our last several games. And sharing my thoughts with you all under that kind of stress would have been inappropriate reading. Now don't get me wrong, as professionals we are programmed to "move on" from games rather quickly. The WNBA season is short and back-to-back games are very common, so there is no time to sulk. But it's tough. At the beginning of the season, the possibilities for the Sky were endless. We started off a little shaky though. Then Sylvia went down with her injury. We just haven't hit our stride as a team yet. Our record is not indicative of the talent that we have and I'm confident that we will go on a nice run before it's all said and done. We beat a very good Detroit team, on our home floor, the other night and hopefully we can continue to build on that success. Then we turned right around and lost to the team no team wanted to be the first to lose to.....The Atlanta Dream. We are now sitting second from last in the east and east/west combined. Losing hurts but the way we have been losing adds salt to the wound. Ok enough about that!

On a lighter note, here's a little bit about me. One of my hidden talents is that I am a Master Whistler! I've always been known to have a mean whistle game and I will challenge anybody to a duel. The last person that tried to challenge me got their feelings hurt. To this day, she still can't put her lips together and blow out anything but air when she's around me. Who wants some?! Show me what you got :)

New Kid On The Block

What's goin on at the Yard?! I guess I'm the new girl on the block. With Diana and Seimone already on here, I decided to join all the fun! D---you're a mess man! In my down time, I'm usually chillin' at home. I like to go on the internet and do everything from shop online to search Youtube for the foolishness of the day. Rest assured there is plenty of foolishness going on in our world. Sometimes, I just don't know what people are thinking. Check out this video. This guy REALLY had the swag like he was gonna clear this girl!

Be sure to check out my ESPN.com diaries on the Chicago Team Page!!
