The Ohio State Buckeyes are one of the schools mentioned. The others are: Arkansas, Connecticut, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Villanova and West Virginia. He would have to sit out the 2008 season due to NCAA Rules and would be eligible to play in the 2009 season.

CavsFan's Ohio State's Notes

We are in the middle of a long boring offseason of Ohio State basketball. Even though there are no games, there is always news and predictions.

* Kosta Koufos goes pro. Will he go to Greece or will he go to the NBA? Personally I think he should go to Greece and raise his stock while he is getting paid. But everyones dream is to play in the NBA and he could always go to Greece later.

*Ohio State signs 2 JUCO transfers. With Butler leaving and PJ Hill proving he can't be a backup at a major college basketball University it made point guard a need for the Bucks. When Koufos annoucned he was for-sure leaving OSU for either the NBA or Greece it made power forward a need. So the great recruiter set his eyes on 3 recruits. Devan Dumes, who Thad later backed off of and he committed to Indiana, Jermie Simmons, and Nikola Kecman. Both Simmons and Kecman have both now signed with OSU and should contribute next year. Kecman is a big man who can knock down jump shots and Simmons is a combo guard who can shoot and pass.

*Kentucky offers 2 freshman. Kentucky offered and got a commitment from Vinny Zollo, a 6'8 freshman from Greenfield McClain, Ohio. He is a big man who can handle the ball and shoot well for his size. He averaged 14 points per game, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. They also offered freshman combo guard, Jeremiah Davis from Indiana. He did not commit and is also interested in Indiana, Xavier, Ohio State, and Tennesse. He averaged about 10 ppg along with 5 assists.

*Ohio State offers a freshman. OSU offered rising freshman Marquis Teague from (Ind)Pike. He already has offers from Ohio State, Wake Forest, Indiana, Xavier, Purdue, and Cincinnati. His brother, Jeff Teague, attends Wake Forest. Ohio State also has offered 2011 stud Chane Behanan.

* Eric Wallace to transfer, Diebler not. Eric Wallace decided to transfer from Ohio State, most likely because of lack of playing time his freshman year. People have suggested that Diebler is going to transfer to Valpo to be with his brother and that is false. His brother would already of graduated when he got there.

* Devon Moore to James Madison. Devon Moore from Columbus Northland, same school as Buckeye 2010 commit Jared Sullinger, decided to sign with James Madison over a "conditional offer" from Ohio State. No one really knows what the conditions of the offer were. Maybe they withdrew it because of the commitment of JUCO PG Jermie Simmons.

* Center U. BJ Mullens is going to be yet another one and done center for Ohio State. He is a stud. Ohio State is going to be named Center U after having back to back to back one and done centers.

* Big Ten/ACC. Ohio State faces Miami this year on December 2. I was getting tired of losing to UNC in this challenge for the past two years.

* 2009 class? Will they Buckeyes ever get a commit for this class? Who knows. Maybe Stephan Van Tresse or Daniel Orton. Wouldn't be suprising to see Van Tresse go to Indiana after his AAU teammate committed to coach Crean.

*OSU Football. They aren't having trouble getting commits for the 2009 class. They are already up to 14. They recently lost commit Darnell Givens to Penn State. But a few days later they got James Jackson from Michigan. Next up: Jamal Berry. Hopefully.

Ebanks to West Virginia, Riley to Georgetown

One time Indiana signee, Devin Ebanks, committed and signed his letter of intent with West Virginia and Coach Bob Huggins, this morning. He picked West Virginia over Memphis, which was a close second, Rutgers, and Texas. Ebanks is considered one of the top recruits of the 2008 class.

Devin Ebanks requested to be released from his letter of intent after hearing the news that now former head coach Kelvin Sampson had been fired due to breaking NCAA rules, specifically recruiting.

DaShonte Riley, a class of 2009 center recruit from Michigan, committed to Georgetown over Ohio State, Michigan, State, Kansas, and NC State. He is a 6'10 center who many think is a project and has been offered on size and potential.

Due to his "poor play" during AAU, it caused some teams to back off.

Thad Matta Has Back Surgery Again!

Thad Matta had back surgery for the second time in 7 weeks.

He had some pain during the season and decided to get surgery.

Things were said to go okay.

AAU: Team Breakdown Wins Championship

Ohio lost in a championship game again!

Team Breakdown from Florida beat King of Da Court of Ohio. The game not pretty. Breakdown wont 74-45.

* Delvon Roe only had 4 points on 2-6 shooting.

* Team Breakdown played great defense, which led to fast breaks.

* Kenny Boynton was named tournament MVP

* Boynton scored 20 points(7-10 2 point range, and 2-7 3 point range) and he didn't even attempt a shot in the fourth quarter(only played 2 minutes).

* Brandon Knight scored 13 points(4-8 two point range, 1-3 three point range, and 2-2 FT) and played great defense. He didn't even play in the fourth quarter due to the score.

* I watched this game on ESPNU and they were talking on Brandon Knight has a 4.3 GPA.

* Eloy Vargas, whose game I love, scored 17 points (5-6 2pt, 2-3 3pt, and 1-2 FT).

* Billy Donovan and Coach K were pointed out on ESPNU's broadcast.

Watch The AAU Finals On ESPU at 8:30 EST Wed.

The AAU finals will be played on ESPU at 8:30 p.m. today(wed).

King of Da Court will face Team Breakdown.

Key players include Delvon Roe, Brandon Knight, Kenny Boynton, and Eloy Vargas.

AAU Nationals: Final Four News

King Of Da Court will face Team Breakdown in the AAU Finals on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.

*OSU assistant coach, Alan Major was in attendance for both games along with many others including Duke and Syracuse.

Team Breakdown beat Georgia Stars 63-57 to advance to the finals.

Brandon Knight struggled early, but stepped up late to help lead his team to victory. He scored 11 points(3-8 2pt, 1-6 3pt, and 2-3 Ft). He scored 25 points in a game earlier that morning. He was averaging 18.7 PPG in this tournament coming into the night game.

Kenny Boynton came out hot, scoring 16 of his 18 points on the first half and not scoring again until there was 7.2 seconds left and he was on the line. He shot 4-11 from 3 point range, 1-8 from 2 point range, and 4-4 from the stripe. He scored 22 point in a game earlier that morning. He was averaging 20.9 PPG coming into the night game.

Eloy Vargas is a better shooter than I thought. There is little to no chance he ends up a Buckeye. He finished with a double- double, 16 points and 11 rebounds. Was 2-2 from 3 point range, 2-4 from 2 point range, and 6-10 from the free throw line. Whatever college that gets this kid will be extremely happy with him. He has averaged 9.7 in the tournament going into that game.

Team Breakdown was missing a key player, 2009 prospect David Loubeau, who Ohio State has contacted, who had a few teeth chipped in a Las Vegas AAU event.

I wish we could of got Al-Farouq Aminu, he is going to be a star. He and his teammate recently committed to Wake Forest.

King Of Da Court beat Westchester to advance to the finals.

Noopy Crater isn't playing for King of Da Court.

Delvon Roe scored about 20 points. He struggled a little in the first half.

Kevin Jones struggled because it was his second game that day. Still scored 18 points, but missed a key 3 pointer with 45 seconds left when his team was down 5. He is a good shooter and is more of a combo forward then power forward.

King Of Da Court will face Team Breakdown in the AAU Finals on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.

Buckeyes Get Garrett Goebel, Miss on DJ Woods

Ohio State added depth to their defensive line by adding 2008 prospect Garrett Goebel. He picked Ohio State over Michigan Friday night. Goebel is a top DT prospect out of Illinois.

Garrett Goebel is the Buckeyes tenth commit for the 2008 lineman.

Wide Receiver/Cornerback prospect DJ Woods committed to Nebraska over Ohio State. Ohio State offered earlier that week.

Nebraska recruited him as a WR, while OSU recruited him as a CB.

Ohio State may now see if they think Isiah Pead, Johnny Adams, or Cameron Saddler are worthy of an offer.

Ohio State and Florida Offer Festus Ezeli

Ohio State and Florida have recently offered 2008 center prospect Festus Ezeli. He currently is attending a Community College in California and will decide if he will go to prep school or to a D1 college.
