NBA considers new age limit

One-and-dones may be a thing of the past. It's rumored that the NCAA and NBA are considering a new age limit. "The NBA adopted a 19-year-old age limit through the collective bargaining agreement which expires in 2010-11. If the new rule goes into effect, it would eliminate the one-and-done players such as Greg Oden and Kevin Durant and force them to spend at least two years in college."

Vince Carter's high-school reel

Everyone goes nuts over today's basketball recruits, partly because they're awesome but also because there's so much footage available of today's high-school ballers. But not many of today's guys can match the highlights of Vince Carter. Can you imagine how sick this guy would be if he actually cared about playing hard?

Hating Duke is its own sport

I agree with Awful Announcing that "hitting a dude in the back for no reason and then flopping just makes you look like a poor sport," but I'm not sure I agree that the video replay is as conclusive as suggested. Regardless, hating on Duke is fun. Gerald Henderson takes a cheap shot and follows it up with a violent flop.

Eminem parody: Duke-fan "Stan"

The language is NSFW. The humor is not safe for those without a sense of humor. Even if you're a Dukie, you have to admit that this Eminem/Coach K parody is a classic.

Duke University "Flop Camp"

Do you have what it takes to be a D-1 flopper? Coach K wants to know.

Duke mascot: dumb stunt, knee injury

Way to go, Mr. Mascot. Smart move. Video available.

Barack Obama's "body man" is former drunk Duke baller

Reggie Love played basketball and football at Duke. He also enjoyed getting drunk, passing out at a UNC frat house, getting drawn on with a permanent marker, and having the photos plastered on the Internet. OK, maybe he didn't enjoy it, but it happened.

The "Original Story" link takes you to a website with more details on the "The Shaming of Reggie Love." Poor guy. There's at least one photo I'm not comfortable posting in the Yard. Below is the link to a feel-good story about Love. Just in case you doubt this guy's actually associated with Obama.

Coach K disses UNC

Coach K takes a not-so-subtle shot at rival coach Roy Williams. He doesn't appreciate the fact that UNC publicly discusses player injuries. Roy had this to say in response: "Coach [your] own damn team; I'll coach my team."

And even though it's old, it's always worth reposting this YouTube classic: "Duke: This Is Why You Suck" (SFW version).

Are the Duke Blue Devils legit?

" Gerald Henderson has improved tremendously after a tentative freshman campaign, Kyle Singler looks to be the second coming of Christian Laettner, and much-maligned point guard Greg Paulus has found his shooting touch after a horrible start to the season. The defense has been subpar, but it hasn't hurt them because Duke has so many players capable of a scoring binge."

But the good folks at The Big Lead still aren't convinced that Duke has what it takes. As a Carolina fan, I'm obviously biased so I'll abstain from the argument. You all already know what I think.

Duke players taking dives

10 clips from a recent Duke basketball game, during each of which it appears Blue Devils embellished contact in an attempt to draw a foul call. Some were called offensive fouls, some defensive fouls, and sometimes the whistle wasn't blown.

I Scheyerfaced Jon Scheyer

"Scheyerface" -- (verb) -- To make a weird face like Duke guard Jon Scheyer does when he plays. This video includes a musical montage of Scheyerfaces from the man himself, and at the end of the video Scheyer gets Scheyerfaced by a Maryland fan.

Classic stuff. Perfect in advance of today's rivalry hoops match-up between the Terps and Blue Devils. Go Terps. Beat Duke.

ACC Flop Champion: Deron Washington

In a game against Duke, Deron Washington proceeded to "flop, trip players, try to get into the Duke huddle, start a fight with Paulus, and undercut Demarcus Nelson on a dunk attempt."

Video included.

Polls love Duke but that won't matter in March

Duke is overrated. The Blue Devils have no presence in the paint, and they'll have no answer for the physical Hansbrough. And its perimeter players? Scheyer is about as physical as a schoolgirl. This guy was supposed to be the next J.J. Redick, but the 6'5" 180 lbs. sophomore can't even get himself in the starting lineup. He still plays a lot of minutes, but the bottom line is that great players find themselves on the court at tipoff. Not cuddling up next to the coach.

Regardless of whether or not Duke is overrated won't matter come mid-March. The Blue Devils will get a high seed in the tournament. Likely #1 or #2. That's because throughout the season they're ranked based not only on their performance but also their reputation. Last year the Dukies were terrible; still, Duke "earned" a #6 seed.

It all comes out in the wash, though. Duke is overrated, and the polls won't help them on the court. Last year Duke lost to #11 seed VCU, and this year they'll lose to the first team that has at least three guys who have spent time in a weight room.

7' 7" guy dunks without having to jump

I couldn't find the embed code for this video (sorry) but it's worth stepping away from the Yard for a second. Giant-man Kenny George dunks on his opponent without his feet ever leaving the floor. The best part is that the dunk was a follow-up shot.

How do you miss a lay-up when you're nearly eight-feel tall?

Breaking down Big East basketball

Which Big East team is best?

Syracuse took a hit with the loss of Eric Devendorf (ACL) and Villanova will struggle to replace Cassiem Drummond (broken foot). Pittsburgh has suffered some injuries, too, but I think they were overrated to start. Louisville has been a disaster.

ESPN.com's Andy Glockner gives the nod to Georgetown and Marquette while giving bottom-dweller status to Cincinnati, Rutgers, DePaul and Cincinnati.
