Phillies Win Game 1, But Will That Performance Do?

Yes, it's great that the Phillies were able to score three runs on only four hits, but that kind of performance won't really cut it. The 22-year-old righty Gallardo walked five this afternoon and followed his Sept. 25 performance by going only four innings again. In the remaining eight innings of pitching from Milwaukee the Phillies could only get one single solitary hit.

WHEW! Phils Defend Division Dramatically

It's funny how something as awesome as winning the division can't get old. Granted it's only the second straight year the Phils have conquered the NL East, the display was just as incredible as it was last season.

Myers' Stellar Work In Second Half Could Be Too Little Too Late

Well, he's done it again. Brett Myers has been en fuego since his stint as a Lehigh Valley Iron Pig. He didn't pitch exceptionally well while he was with the Phillies AAA affiliate, but ever since his return to the major leagues he's tried to steal a teammate's nickname of "lights out". Friday night he continued the success he's had since the All-Star break by beating the NL East leading Mets.

Wanted: Consistency At The Plate

It's August. It's stretch time. Division races are heating up. It may seem obvious, but just in case some of the Phillies hitters are also ADD Show fans (which carries about the same probability as me one day suiting up for the Phils myself), I figured someone should let them know.

http://theaddshow.com/2 008/07/31/sixers-retain -lou-williams-five-more -years/

The ADD Show has learned from sources at Comcast SportsNet that the 76ers have re-signed guard Lou Williams to a five-year deal. Williams, a restricted free agent, was rumored to be sought after by the Golden State Warriors, meaning the Sixers would have had the opportunity to match an offer sheet. Terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

Myers Struggles In Return; Phils Still Eyeing Burnett?

When his confidence grew after four minor league starts, Brett Myers set an ambitious goal of - I wish I were making this up - winning 10 games for the Phillies in the second half of the season. His quest for double digit victories was made even less likely tonight when he struggled in his return to the big club.

Are The Phils Done Wheeling and Dealing?

With nine days remaining until the MLB trade deadline, the Phillies are still showing up in a few rumors despite getting the starting arm they were looking for in Joe Blanton.

Lupul To Sign Four-Year Extension On Monday

Joffrey Lupul will repportedly sign a four-year extension, keeping him in Philadelphia through the 2012-13 season. TSN reports the announcement will be formally made Monday morning.

Phils Acquire Blanton; Good Move?

Pat Gillick finally made a move for starting pitching Thursday when he acquired right-handed starter Joe Blanton from the Oakland Athletics for prospects Adrian Cardenas, Josh Outman, and Matt Spencer. But is Blanton really worth the risk of three promising prospects?

Untouchables? Phils Might Not Mortgage Future On A Starter

According to the New York Post the Phillies are not willing to part with their three top prospects Lou Marson, Carlos Carrasco, and Greg Golson. Here is the direct quote from the obvious authority for Philadelphia sports, the Post...

Long Ball: Trying to Predict the 2008 Derby

If there's anything true about baseball analysts everywhere, or sports analysts as a whole, it's that predicting isn't exactly their forte. So it made complete sense for us at the ADD Show to try and predict the 2008 State Farm Home Run Derby (Monday, 8pm). First though, let's break down the derby participants…

Phils Talking Relief? Myers Ready?

While speculation about the Phillies going after a starting pitcher remains only that, talk now surfaces about the Fightin's going after a relief pitcher. Philly.com reports the Phillies have declined an offer by the Colorado Rockies for left-handed reliever Brian Fuentes.

What Is The Phillies Best Option?

The rumors have been swirling in Philadelphia about a new starter coming to town. Unfortunately for teams looking for pitching help like the Phils don't have much to work with now that CC Sabathia has been shipped to Milwaulkee. Erik Bedard and AJ Burnett are the most notable names in trade talks surrounding the Phils, but could their best option be a former Phillie not named Randy Wolf?

It's a Brand New Year; Sixers Land Elton For Five Years

The Sixers have proved that maybe letting Atlanta Hawk Josh Smith leave town without a contract wasn't such a bad idea. Ed Stefanski has worked his magic and won a bigger sweepstakes; the Elton Brand sweepstakes. ESPN.com is reporting that Brand has agreed to a five-year, $82 million deal with the Sixers, snubbing the Los Angeles Clippers who recently acquired Baron Davis.

Flyers Off-Season Solid Despite Lacking Big Names

After the 2007-08 campaign it was no secret that the Flyers were going to address a big need on defense during the off-season. It appeared early on that the Flyers were going on an all defensive diet next season, but the roster is now a little more balanced and clear after a couple of days of free agency.
