I've been trying to figure out what the deal is with the Rockets. I have looked all over the web to no avail. I'm talking about their abundance of power forwards/big men/guys down low. They currently have
Yao Ming,
Luis Scola, Dikembe Mutumbo, Carl Landry, Chuck Hayes, Mike Harris,
Maarty Leunen,
Joey Dorsey and you could even throw in Battier and Artest into the mix. I know that Dorsey and Leunen have yet to be signed and that Landry is still out on the free agent market but they count as well. That's 10 potential people that could fill the PF roll at some point in a game throughout the season.
They pick up my boy,
Joey Dorsey, third in the second round (pick 33), and I was pleased. Well, Portland drafted him, but then the Rockets traded for him. Now I hear that they are not going to sign him! I guess he's still got a chance to show himself in camp, but go ahead and show JD some love, please! He's a fragile guy that needs the team to put some faith into him.
Louis Scola is a lock starting at PF, I understand. As is Yao as long as he stays healthy. If you say that Battier and Artest are less likely to run the four often in a game, then that still leaves 4 guys battling for the bench spots that play that position. Is Landry getting resigned? Is Dikembe finally going to retire?
I was really thinking that Dorsey was going to be a great fit off the bench in Houston. He is definitely a fan favorite in Memphis, so I know he could come off the bench for Houston and give that emotional boost that every team needs. I guess I really just want to know what's going on here. Does anybody have any additional 411?
