Day 20 of 170: Dirk's run for MVP starts now?

Line of the Night: Dirk (1.62) pulled out his second Line of the Night of the season with 39 points, 15 rebounds, a steal, and a block while making all 12 free throws and shooting 48% from the floor. Nothing like playing against the Knicks and going to overtime to enhance that stat line.

Honorable Mentions: [...]

Day 19 of 170: Anthony Morrow Goes Nuclear

Line of the Night: Lebron James (1.51). The Cavs matched up against a Jazz team playing without Deron Williams, Mehmet Okur and Andrei Kirilenko and the results were not surprising: 38 points for Bron off 13-21 shooting, 7 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 3 threes.

Honorable Mentions: 33 points and 10 assists [...]

Week 4: Last Minute Help

Sergio Gonzalez from CBS Sports has a Week 4 Fantasy Basketball Planner.

Adam Ronis from newsday.com has some fantasy basketball thoughts from Friday’s games and a little bit of meta-analysis.

Points in the Paint has a couple pieces:

Day 18 of 170: Rasheed Wallace Doesn't Want Anymore Undefeated Teams

Line of the Night: Joe Johnson (1.39). You were all wrong. But, in fairness, who would have thought so much fantasy goodness would have come out of the Hawks/Nets game? Johnson led Atlanta with 32 points (30 of that coming in the game's second half), adding 9 boards, 5 assists and 2 steals. He [...]

Day 17 of 170: Where Nothing All That Amazing Happened

Line of the Night: Chauncey Billups (1.23) took it away tonight with 26/1/6 and 4 threes, going 69% from the field and 100% from the line (only 4 attempts, though). When that’s you’re line of the night, you know that Amare wasn’t playing.

Honorable Mentions: A bunch of guys had decent games, like: Rasheed Wallace (0.79) [...]

The Commute for November 14, 2008

Climb on in. It’s Friday, we’re leaving early.

First things first, suspensions have been handed down for the Suns v. Rockets fracas. Not much you can do if you’ve got weekly lineup changes, but for daily changers, take Matt Barnes and Rafer Alston out of your lineup for the next 2 games, and Nash will be [...]

Day 16 of 170: Are the Knicks the Best Fantasy Team in the NBA?

Line of the Night: Basketball Monster might not think so, but as far I I'm concerned, Dwight Howard (1.17) could have gone back in time to miss every free throw ever attempted since James Naismith invented this crazy game, and he still would have earned LotN. Howard had a monster of a game, going [...]

The Commute for November 13, 2008

While it mildly upsets me every time people talking about Working the Waiver Wire when really it’s more about picking up Free Agents, LestersLegends.com has Volume 1 of their Waiver Wire Bin, 5 guys to take a look at now. Lester also has the players of the day with the usual 30 point, 12 rebound, [...]

What to Do With Nene?

I received an interesting trade offer today in one league - Nene Hilario for Gerald Wallace. It's a ridiculous offer at first glance, but if you take a look at the numbers, Nene is actually outplaying Wallace this season. In fact, Nene is currently outplaying most of the NBA. Through 7 games he's 11th on [...]

Day 15 of 170: LeBron James thinks 41 is the real meaning of life

Line of the Night: LeBron (1.30) scored 41 for the third time in four games, adding 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and shooting 80% from the line! Someone’s been practicing!

Honorable Mentions: Allen Iverson (1.19) had 30/7/9 but only shot 47.4%, which was not as good as LeBron’s 67%. Tayshaun Prince (1.08), who due to a typo [...]

The Commute for November 12, 2008

Welcome to The Commute. It’s like Henry Abbott’s First Cup, only it happens later in the day. I also considered Happy Hour as a title, so please feel free to vote (write-in candidates acceptable) in the newly improved INTENSE DEBATE comments.

First on the agenda - before I talk more about the new and improved INTENSE [...]

Free Darko and The Macrophenomenal Pro Basketball Almanac

I was breezing my way through Slate Magazine this morning and, to my surprise, not only did I see a short article about Free Darko and their new book: The Macrophenomenal Pro Basketball Almanac, but said article got top billing on the front page of Slate. My first reaction: What the? My second reaction: Wow. [...]

Day 14 of 170: I Wish I Was Little Bit Taller

Line of the Night: T.J. Ford (1.2) came up 3 rebounds short of a triple-double during Indiana's 107-99 win over OKC. He had to settle for 24/7/10, which as Danny Granger noted, is "pretty good for a 5-7 guy." It's safe to say that people had fairly low expectations of Ford going into the season, [...]

The All-Injury Team

Watch out! It’s time for some complaining! If you don’t want to hear my express my frustration at some injuries that have befallen one of my teams, you can skip this post. If you want to laugh at me, or console yourself by knowing that things could be worse, this is your post.

In the Carnival [...]

Carnival of the NBA #61

Both Teams Played Hard is hosting Carnival of the NBA #61, and it’s a good one. Unique theme, even if it required some stretches to get there.

In the spirit of the Carnival…

Half Blog Half Amazing has a post on how to use Twitter to help you in fantasy basketball. I have to admit, I [...]
