Should Horse Shoes be an Olympic Event?

OK folks..........the Bejing Olympics has me and my wife drawn in . We have been watching religiously since the coverage started. But sitting in my favorite chair in my living room eating a nice sandwhich for lunch , I started watching today's 6 plus hr coverage of the Olympics on NBC. I saw cycling, highlights from swimming, water polo, and basketball.....................and then I started seeing some crazy stuff.

For the life of me, and maybe someone can explain it a little better for me................Why is Badmitten ( spelling ) a sport. I mean that is glorified ping pong. Actually I think ping pong would have more credibility. And then a little while later, I saw another sport.........( cough ) ( cough )......I mean event, are you ready ..............Tramplining. A person is jumpig on a trampline..............and doing all sorts of flilps and twists and so on. So I said to myself " Isn't that a backyard thing ? " .

Which brings me to put forth to everyone this................Should horse shoes be an Olympic event? I mean why not? It's competitive, you can play teams or singles, it's a backyard event as well ( ala Tramplining). The only thing you would have to really eliminate from backyard horse shoes is drinking beer. ( which would be s serious problem for me ) . I consider myself a prettty descent player, I have a nice regulation size set up in my back yard. And my football buddies love it during season. We play at halftime, and before and after game ( yes ladies play too).

Think about it though............some of these Olympic events are filler events for the major ones...................why couldn't they add horse shoes?

P.S.

I did do research on Wikipedia to see if horse shoes was an Olympic event, and I saw that it wasn't. But if someone finds out it is, and this article is all for nothing..............well then I am sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Isaac Hayes passes away.............

Isaac was found by his family in his home , after returning from the grocery store. Isaac was next to his treadmill machine.

He was another Barry White type soul musician. Won a grammy for his theme song to the movie " Shaft". Here is a link to listen to that popular song. He was also the voice of " Chef" of South Park.

He will be missed .

What do you do at your tailgate?? Saturday's or Sunday's............... ...

Ok football fans from around the land, what do you do ? And what do you bring to your tailgate parties?? On Saturday's being a Buckeye..........and depending on how big the game is I do quite a bit. * No Buckeye tailgate and party can function without Beer Brats with Peppers and onions. * I also have a rotel and jimmy dean sausage velvetta dip in a crock pot.............complemeted with restauraunt style nachos. * I have fello Buckeye freinds who bring over blue crabs and oysters ( steamed and raw ) yummy ............yummmy * Plenty of beer..............and depending on everyones mood............I break out my margarita set up.................Yea baby!!!! * My wife makes a kick *** pasta salad , and chicken salad. * My mom adds her touch with her version of Chocalate Buckeyes ( peanut butter balls dipped in chocalate)................mmmmmmmm....... Lastly............Michigan games , I always make my famous Buckeye Chili..................I use 3 different types of sausages , plenty of spices and kickers everyone loves. So what do you all do??

Tonight Pre-season game 1 Browns / Jets..............

Alright football fans...............here we go . 2008 Browns run starts. Even though it's preseason, I think it will be a good gauge for the D-line. The Jets O-line is one of the top 5 units in the League ( Mangold, Faneca, Fergeson).

DA will get his reps.............Brady will see alot of time.

Please lord please..............no injuries.

The Buckeye's Have "It" , but Do They Know It?

This article says it all. There is a reason Tressel has had success his entire tenure in Columbus, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. All the naysayers and haters won't read or bother looking at what reality is. And that is Ohio State is good, always has been good, and by the looks of the pipeline of recruits coming in by the bus loads from all parts of this country............Ohio State will be very good for a long , long time. We might not win every Championship game were in , but the fact is we are there on a consistant basis.

Go Bucks!!

Georgia Bulldogs has the Toughest Schedule ( hands down folks )...........

Pick a game, pick a week...........from the start of this season or torwards the end , thier schedule is freaking brutal. People will see Vanderbilt on thier schedule..............well to let everyone know , Vandy has been showing up in games as of late. If it happens that after the Bulldogs make it through this schedule unscathed.............and get in to the SEC title game, they are gonna be one bruised and batterd bunch.

Good Luck Dawgs................

Browns RB Jamal Lewis running for Legacy,Titles, and Jim Brown

Lewis has shed 15 lbs this off-season, and feels like he did back in College ( Tennessee). He hopes his quickness can compliment the much improved O-line in Cleveland. He also says that were he is in his career , it isn't about the money as much anymore. He wants a Championship, and he wants to linked to the NFL greats. ( 900yds rushing puts him in the 10,000 yd club).

Other notes:

CB's Davon Holly and Brandon McDonald are struggling a bit says head coach Crennel. And LB Beau Bell ( 4th rd pick) has shown how physical he can be, and enjoys contact. Now , Crennel is curious to see where his mental part of his game is. It is definately a process for the younger guys.

" Opps, Sorry Nascar Fans "..............

That statement seems to be what Nascar fans here after every race debacle. And this past Sunday's race at Indy was a complete debacle. I am not gonna get into the lack of racing that went on due Goodyears tire issues, but I do want to address why the fans should be refunded.

Fans paid the ultimate price this past weekend at the Brickyard race at Indy. Compaired to most sporting events, a typical NASCAR race for fans is an entire weekend expense ( gas, hotels, accomadations, etc) . Some fans plan a yr ahead, and make it a vacation. But more recently than not, the top NASCAR brass has been snubbing thier fans , and drivers, and so on.

"Opps, Sorry we'll get it right next time"...............this excuse us fans cannot afford to hear. NASCAR makes entirely too much money to not get it right. They need to get off thier high horse, and start listening to thier fans, drivers, crew chiefs. And quit acting like they are the end all be all, and know all.

Shame on you Mike Helton, France Jr. shame on you!!

Browns Building Momentium

Veterens pushing younger guys, a roster of players more competitive than ever. This all can be attributed to the success the Browns had last yr, even though they came just shy of a wild-card berth. There is definately a buzz in the in Berea , Ohio. If the Browns can shore up it's Defensive woes from last yr. , there is no reason why they cannot come away with an AFC North crown; even with a brutal schedule from start to finish.

Farve, Packers find Middle Ground; For now

In all seriousness.......Why hasen't Brett filed his reinstatement papers?( how can fans take him serious if he isn't handling his buiesness) He cannot do anything until he does. Then he has to take a physical. So the owness is on him. All of this PR Bullcrap is for the birds. The Packers have basically told Brett they don't want him anymore, and he obviously has a problem with that. But he is gonna have to live with that. He's not bigger than that team or the Franchise................even if he is Brett "freaking " Farve.

Advocates, NCAA take sides on paying Student-Athletes

You have to admit, Division 1A programs make a ton of money off these kids. Thier jersey's , thier highlights, thier mear presence. These video games they have out now wth them, yea thier names aren't on the game ...............but thier numbers are, as well as thier stats, etc...........

I think student athletes should get something. Yea , thier on scholarship........they get perks and so on. But the money the Universities and school Presidents and coaches get way .................way outway what the players get. The players are the ones sacrafysing thiers bodies for the NCAA brass to make thier coin. That is the total truth right there.......................enough said.

The student -athlete should be intitled to something.

Pryor's Role Unclear as Buckeye's Prepare for Season

Tressel said as soon as Pryor starts practice officially Aug. 4th, he will be implimented into the offense immediately( in special situations of course). Pryor has already been on a conditioning program and he's had some offensive schemes given to him so he won't get overwhelmed all at once. Tressel is going to groom this kid similar to Troy Smith. I know expectations on this kid are really high now, but Buckeye fans needs to be patient ( yea, right ). He will definately be eased into it. The "Pony " offense would seem to be a perfect fit him. Good luck Terrell.

Ohio State's Clifford being released

This was going to eventually happen. He had 3 incidents total. The bar fight a month ago pretty much iced up his stay in Coulmbus.
