Tennis Connects With Digital Age

TennisChannel.com is offering (free?) live streaming of the French Open from May 25-June 8. Continued exploration into online media can not only help boost the sport's revenue, but also help expand its fan base, with seemingly little risk.

Iron Mike Talks About "Tyson"

Interesting interview that makes me even more inclined to check out the flick. Tyson's seemingly come a long way.

GMT Hall of Fame Inductee: Rance Mulliniks

Today we are honored to induct the first ever member into the Gem Mint Ten Hall of Fame.

He had the look. He had the name. Most of all, he had the glasses, the mustache and the general awkwardness of an IT guy living in his parents' basement.

It is our pleasure to announce the inclusion of the great Steven Rance Mulliniks into this esteemed institution.

First there was the high school football coach. Then the former college softball standout/coach. Now a former college tennis star and Student Assistant.

Humpy Wheeler Retires

The Sporting News: Humpy Wheeler announced his retirement as president and general manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway on Wednesday, ending a 33-year career as one of NASCAR's top promoters.

Did Humpy Wheeler get his name from Dubya like Cooter Burger?

The Los Angeles California American League Angels of Anaheim

Christ, even MLB can't figure out what to call this team, nonetheless market them.

From shop.mlb.com, get your "American League Angels" beach towel for only $24.99.

Pretty Boys

What a bunch of posers...Tim Leary as Jake Ryan, Randy Ready as a gay man, Zane Smith as a surfer and Jim Slaton as a Chippendale.

WWLBD - What Would Larry Bowa Do?

Yesterday, the Associated Press reported that "the family of a boy who suffered brain damage after he was struck by a line drive off an aluminum baseball bat sued the bat's maker and others on Monday, saying they should have known it was dangerous." The others named in the suit are Little League Baseball and Sports Authority. While there is great sympathy for the Domalewski family, where do you draw the line? Short of having pre-teens donning full catching gear in the field, or wrapping them completely in bubble wrap, what can really be done to prevent such random, freak accidents? Little League Whiffle Ball?

Debating Moose's Hall Credentials

Our buddy Yanni shot out an email yesterday with an interesting article on John Feinstein's new book "Living on the Black: Two Pitchers, Two Teams, One Season to Remember," on Moose and Glavine's 2007 season.

What ensued was the email recipients launching into a debate on Mussina's Hall credentials.

Yost Goes All Bissinger

While Milwaukee GM Doug Melvin chose to brush off the notions surrounding his manager's employment status as "erroneous Internet rumors," Yost chose to launch into what was described by the Sentinal Journal as a "mild tirade/venting session" that included "un-publishable words."
