Sandy Koufax Song

Some corny love for Sandy Koufax. Pretty funny.

Warren Sapp Tribute

Now maybe he is not the best of all time, but we can not take away from what Warren Sapp has given us for the past 13 years.

Youngest Player in MLB History Passes

Joe Nuxhall made it to the bigs when he was 15, a Cincinnati call up during WWII. He went on to win 135 games in his career, then becoming a broadcaster for Reds.

Nuxhall died at the age of 79.

Nice clip by Gammons and Kurkjian.

Classic Sports Moments

Kind of an old link, but it is still great none the less. A month by month breakdown from espn.com of classic sport moments that we as fans must enjoy.

Pre WW1 Baseball

I watched "Eight Men Out," the other day and got to thinking about some the old ball players, especially Shoeless Joe. Then I found this.

Enjoy

Black and White Clip. From the 60's?

Just found it, take ot for what you will.

Barry Bonds "Tribute"

With Barry leaving the Giants (or getting kicked out of the organization), here is a youtube clip I found on his great career.

Tribute To Ronnie Lott

As week 2 approaches, I had to give some love to my favorite DB of al ltime.

Jerry Rice Still Has It

Post patter by Jerry Rice at a combine. Poor kid got schooled.

The Legacy of Phil Rizzuto

As you all must know already the baseball world lost one of its great ambassadors, Phil Rizzuto passed away. Baseball Library has a good write up on The Scooter, in case you were not familiar with the Yankee shortstop.

David "Boo" Ferriss

Yes I know, none of us have ever heard of this David "Boo" Ferriss. But while looking around for random baseball info, I came across this guy.

He was the 1st baseball player to get a full scholarship at Mississippi State, and won 21 games in his rookies season as a Boston Red Sox.

Interesting read.

The Wizard

Great web page devoted to the Wizard of Oz, Mr. Ozzie Smith. Possibly the greatest shortstop to ever play the game, he flipped and bare-handed himself into the record books. This page has videos, stats and more.

The Polo Grounds

I was looking up old facts and such as I seem to do when I am bored, and came across this page talking about the classic Polo Grounds. Home to the Giants, Yankees and Mets from 1883 - 1890, the cathedrial of a stadium hosted some of the best players ever to step in between the lines.

Anywhere from 270 ft to 505 ft and with walls of concrete, the Polo Grounds are a true part of baseball history.

Cal Ripken Jr., A Tribute

Iron Man himself, Cal Ripken Jr.

A tribute to the man who changed the shortstop position as we know it today. Away from guys who just picked it, Ripken Jr. brought offensive power to the middle infield, opening a whole new generation of infielders. Not to mention the guy could play a mean 3B too.

P.S. The song is fitting.

Enjoy.

Classic Side-winder, Walter Johnson

I found this great video/narrative of 417 game winner Walter "Big Train," Johnson. Johnson won 20 games in 10 straight seasons pitching for the Washington Senators, k'd over 3,500 batters, had 110 shutouts, and his 417 wins is second most to one Cy Young.
