Sunday Summary

I'm a football fanatic. Mostly college football because the game still manages to stay SOMEWHAT pure. Notice I say somewhat. Since I love it so much, I wanna start giving my observations on some of the games I watched.

SEC has one hell of a conference this year. With the reigning Heisman trophy winner over at Florida to the--True freshmen at Bama, this conference remains untouchable for the title of "Best Conference". Three teams annihilated their openers. Alabama, #1 ranked Georgia, and Florida.

Alabama killed Clemson. They have talent in both offense and defense. Julio Jones, Mark Ingram, and John Parker Wilson are a force to be reckoned with. In the 2nd quarter, Ingram took on Clemson's LB with a huge block so Wilson could run for huge gain. Their defense forced two turnovers and magnaged to keep the Tiger at bay with only 48 snaps for the entire game. This is a team with-- - count them- fourteen true freshmen. Did I mention the 365 lb defensive lineman in Terrence Cody? Everyone knows Nick Saban is a guarantee. He's guaranteed to build a team. Naysayers chose to overlook his first outing and speculated he would make a showing in about 2 to 3 years. Saban basically told every doubter out there to kiss every bit of that anatomy he sits on because this team is a contender.

Florida's Tim Tebow showed every person in this country why he received the Heisman Trophy last year despite being solo after the graduation of Chris Leak. He was in the midst of growing pains and he still won the majority vote. Here's Tebow's stats from last night: 9 of-- for 137 yards, 1 TD and no INTs. His efficiency as a QB is nothing short of great and his role as a leader is beyond extrordinary. If he stays healthy, Tebow can lead his team to another National Championship.

Georgia caught me by surprise. I hadn't looked at the pre-season rankings and to my surprise found them at the numero uno spot. Mark Richt has a helluva team over there dominating the first half with 24 unanswered points. Returning quaterback Matthew Stafford, out of Dallas, TX, went 13 for 21 for 375 yards and 2 TDs. Knowshon Moreno carried the ball 8 time for 59 yards but scored 3 TDs for the Bulldogs. Georgia Southern did make necessary adjustments in the second half but to no avail.

LSU and Auburn also killed thier opponents but that is to be expected of the reinging national champs and the arch-rival of the Crimson Tide. Especially against teams not worthy of their caliber of play. Their wins didn't impress me as the former three did. I'm highly intrigued by the upcoming year in the Southeastern Conference.

As for OU and the Big 12...what can I say? Bor-ring. OU played Chattanooga and would have gone home with a blowout had it not been for the 2 point safety from a failed punt. Failed punt?!? Please. OU needs to acquire some discipline like Clemson. Clemson had two defensive backs receive 2 Pass Interference calls back to back. Penalties hurt not help. Yeah I know. Anyone who watches football knows that but I'm reiterating the common knowledge for those who don't know and should.

Texas...we don't talk about them over here for this is an Aggies house and speaking of Mike Sherman's first outing...You suck man. You sucked in Green Bay and now you're taking a tradition down the drain. How do you manage to lose to Arkansas State University?!? Answer that one for me. PLEASE!!!!

USC...Meh!!! Not interested. They did their usual. Dominate every facet of the field but the other teams cheering squad.

If I were the following teams, I wouldn't resurface until I knew it was safe to show my face again: Michigan, Virginia Tech, and Pitt.

Michigan....TWICE in a row?!? You lose to a substandard opponent in the season opener!!! In the Big House no less!! Come on, I know Rich Rodriguez just got there and he had adequate enough time to work the kinks out but please, spare the Wolverine family the embarrassment! I can't do anything but shake my head.

Va Tech and Pitt...no words for ya'll except back to the old drawing board.

Those are my Sunday Summaries for ya. I can't wait until next week for another exciting weekend of football.

It's just getting started and I love it!

Brett Favre, Will You Please Go Home?

As I reference the famous Dr. Seuss book, I needed to change the salutation to fit the perfect person in the situation.

I don't know about anyone else but I am sick and tired of Brett Favre. He is everywhere. I mean darn ESPN! Can we move on already? Who gives a darn the man left Green Bay? People leave their teams all the time. No one gave two cents when Joe Montana (the best Quarterback of all time) was traded to Kansas City. Nobody cared when Mr. October was sent to the then California Angels. Nobody cared half as much when Magic Johnson checked out with HIV. It was talked about but this affair is so over. He's in NY. He's no longer in Green Bay. Why is his performance at NY such a freakin issue? Honestly!

He's such a drama queen. He retired. He needs to sit his old behind down. The man may have broken Dan Marino's Career TDs but he also holds INTs of all time as well. So what?!? Who cares? People don't care. Let the man rest. He's in NY. It's only news if you let it be news. I'm not saying he doesn't haven't skills. I'm not saying it isn't news. But the news was where he was gonna end up. We know now. Now the "big" story is what is he gonna do? Will his performance be as good as it was in Green Bay? I don't care. I don't think anyone cares. It's overshadowing the Olympics. It's overshadowing the Wild Card race in MLB. Last night, Boston Dead Sox beat the Texas Rangers in the highest scoring game I've seen at the Green Monster but Brett Favre is having a press conference so I can't see the highlights.

He retires. He comes back. He retires again. He comes back. He retired again for good (supposedly) but he came back with another team. Let it go. He's gonna do the same thing next year. You know what the next big news will be...he won the first season game with the Jets. The next big news...He won the 2nd big game. The next big news (if it happens)...he won seven games and they will reference back to the beginning of the season the drama behind his being trading to NY. The next big news (if it happens)...he made it into the Playoffs once again referencing the trading drama. I mean the news is anything if not predictable.

Please let it go. There are more things going on in this world than Brett Favre. Give me something else to talk about. PLEASE!!!!!
