Cung Le defeats Frank Shamrock!!!

WOW what a fight! Cung Le was devastating tonight. Frank's idea of hanging kick for kick with Le lost that fight for him. He had him, had him...but hats off to Cung Le, WOW what a fight.

NFL teams weigh Wonderlic tests

Some how the Chicago Tribune got a copy of this years Wonderlic scores. I guess sometimes you have to remind yourself that some of these guys aren't in positions where they have to think, rather react.

FITZGERALD EXTENDS HIS DEAL

It appears that Fitz is really staying in AZ....next on the rumor list....

FITZGERALD EXTENDS HIS DEAL

According to an announcement posted on what appears to be his personal web site, Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald has agreed to a four-year, $40 million contract with the team.

Fitzgerald's site says that he'll get $30 million guaranteed, and $33 million over the next three years.

He had been scheduled to earn more than $14 million in salary in 2008 and more than $17 million in salary in 2009 based on eight-figure escalators for which he qualified based on his performance during the first four years of his career.

The deal also supposedly contains a clause that permits Fitzgerald to block any trade without his consent (which protects him from being traded to one of the really bad franchises . . . like the one he currently plays for).

Is Marion Jones the First of Many Atheletes Headed to Jail?

Marion Jones began serving her six month jail sentence in a Federal Penitentiary in Fort Worth, TX. I can't imagine she will be the last athlete to head to prison for lying to federal authorities. Who's next Roger or Barry, that's my question. I'll be those two are shaking in there shoes.

Cardinals make new deal with WR Fitzgerald a priority

I'm not doubting that Larry is a classy guy, an incredible football player, but what has he proven on the football field. I'm sorry but if I compare the early part of Randy's career to Larry's career...Randy is hands down the better receiver. Larry is worth a ton, but not his current contract value and his agent is already looking at 2 yrs from now. The Cardinals are stuck with the contract that they offered, but do we have to be held hostage by there mistake. It's not as easy as opening a checkbook and writing the big check. What are we willing to give up for him. Contracts escalate and next year someone will be on the block just to keep him around. Look at what is happening to the Cards right now. They lost there big young defensive free agents because of Larry's contract...do you really want that? Are you aware of how many of our young kids are up for new contracts in 2010? Call me a long range thinker, but I'm not willing to give up the franchise for one player.

EAGLES FANS WERE CAUGHT UP IN A HOAX...

For those of you who actually thought that Holt was coming to Philly, please check your sources. Some Cowgirl or Gnat fan posted that article and got a lot of people....They also posted the article The author of that one was Hkeller, HELEN KELLER. For those Eagles fans, myself included, keep an eye out for that crap.....I'd like to believe I just saved the city from further embarrassment.

EAGLES, 'SKINS OUT OF WALKER SWEEPSTAKES

EAGLES, 'SKINS OUT OF WALKER SWEEPSTAKES

A league source tells us that the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins are no longer among the teams interested in acquiring the services of receiver Javon Walker.

There's a suspicion that Walker's agent is puffing in this regard, overstating to the media the interest in the player in an effort to create a market for him.

Walker was traded to the Packers to the Broncos in 2006, and was released recently in order to avoid a significant roster bonus.

MOSS AND DAUNTE, TOGETHER AGAIN?....This is getting crazy

How bad do you really want this in our HOUSE? I thought I really did, but with the tactics and attitude that he is moving too, when does it stop and will he really be quiet and super productive...he is just raising so many question marks for me...

MOSS AND DAUNTE, TOGETHER AGAIN?

It's now becoming increasingly obvious to us that, as it relates to free agency, receiver Randy Moss had no plan.

Why else would he be reaching out to quarterback Daunte Culpepper, a washed-up shell of what he once was, in the hopes of peddling themselves to a new team?

According to John Clayton of ESPN.com, Moss reached out to Culpepper on Saturday night about the possibility of "finishing what they started" in Minnesota on a new team.

Clayton cautions not to interpret such a move as a "package deal." But what the hell is it then?

If Moss is doing this only to persuade other teams that he's truly willing to leave New England, then it's sort of brilliant. We're convinced that teams are leery of making Moss the kind of offer that might get his attention due to fears that he'd then turn around and use that proposal to leverage the Pats into putting more money on the table.

If, in contrast, Moss is doing it because he genuinely wants to go to a new team that would sign Culpepper and install him as the starting quarterback, it's one of the stoopidest things we've ever heard.

Even if there's a team that would be intrigued by adding Moss and using Culpepper as a backup, there's too much of a risk that Randy would start lobbying for Culpepper to be the starter. So their options would be limited to a team that would be in a position to bench their current No. 1 quarterback and hand the job to a guy who hasn't been the same since he knee was exploded in Charlotte more than two years ago.

A quick look at the list of the 32 teams reveals not many teams that even could be interested in such a move. As we see it, the possibilities are Baltimore, Denver (hey, we don't put anything past Coach Kevlar when it comes to free agency), Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Tampa, and St. Louis, where the head coach was the offensive coordinator the last time Moss and Culpepper were on the same team.

It's amazing to us that a guy who put up 23 touchdown receptions in 2007 has to resort to such a desperate and misguided strategy in order to get the payday that, more than two days into free agency, simply isn't there.

BRIGGS STAYING IN CHICAGO

Ask Lance Briggs if there's no such thing as karma. He was the hottest item in last years free agency with news and speculation regarding his tenure in Chicago. To me this is an awesome move for Lance. He remains in a system that makes him look HUGE...something that would not have happened anywhere else. Why did the NFL turn sour on him and can you believe that all he got was a $30 mil contract with $12mil guaranteed. WOW, in the year of years for big payouts, it's hard to believe thats all he got!

Last year, Bears linebacker Lance Briggs was determined to get out of Chicago. He wanted to step out of middle linebacker Brian Urlacher's shadow.

"I've talked to Brian about it," Briggs said a year ago. "I'm a competitor and I want the same thing he has. I've learned a lot from Brian as a player and a leader and I eventually want to be 'the man' somewhere. I want to be like him and have everything put on me too. Obviously I'll never be able to do that there.

"I've played my last snap for them. I'll never play another down for Chicago again."

And now, after playing plenty of snaps with Chicago in 2007, Briggs has opted to spend another six seasons there

As first reported by Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times, Briggs has agreed to terms on a six-year, $36 million contract with the Bears.

Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com reports that the deal includes approximately $12 million in guaranteed money.

So why did Briggs return to Chicago? As one media insider explained it, he had no other takers.

WHAT SAMUEL AND CLEMONS MEAN TO OUR DRAFT AND LONG TERM PLAN

As we rejoice in the super signing of Asante Samuel and Chris Clemons, we finally realize that there is a plan in place for this team. The front office, who is being very aggressive in free agency, has a plan and it seems that the execution has been flawless. Long term deals for these two are the stepping stones to a very good defense and I really believe that they are filling positions that they would have addressed with there #1 draft pick. Immediate fixes with veteran players allows for the continuation of there long term plan for other key positions like left tackle, left guard, or right tackle (with our #19 pick). It also opens up a day one pick at wide receiver, safety, or even corner back to address holes and to upgrade with good players now. I believe the pick to fill those positions will also be someone with the obvious skills and talent to play special teams as a KR/PR. This upgrade has been a long time coming and has let us down for the past three years. The last big impact full time player at these positions was Brian Westbrook as a rookie and 2nd year player.

I don't believe we are done yet, Lito's expend ability draws a quick question mark as to what is being offered from other teams…draft picks, personnel moves, a combination of both to acquire the receiver that they and WE want. At this point the teams who have been mentioned have nothing that we really want or need besides draft picks. I hope they keep Lito and create a dominant defensive backfield that creates game changing turnovers.

The Eagles are keeping things close to there chest and I'm glad…don't let the competition know what's going to happen next, keep em guessing. I really believe that Dan Snyder and Jerry Jones raised more than an eye brow to our moves. Finally, we are in a great position to continue our season of upgrades. Two years of…We can pick the best available in the draft and not be aggressive in free agency are gone. I think the Giants winning the super bowl may have created an open checkbook and inserted or renewed a new or long lost mindset in management team…so this years Super Bowl actually could have been a good thing for the Eagles and there fans. I applaud them for taking the big steps to a fantastic looking 2008. EAGLES!

EAGLES CLOSING IN ON CLEMONS

EAGLES CLOSING IN ON CLEMONS

We mentioned on Friday that the Eagles soon would be signing Raiders defensive end Chris Clemons. The team has announced that Clemons is visiting the team on Saturday, and a press conference has been scheduled for later this afternoon.

Possible translation? It's a done deal.

Indeed, we've heard from multiple sources that it is a done deal.

Clemons, who spent three seasons with the Redskins and one year in Oakland, had eight sacks in 2007 despite starting only two games.

If/when the Eagles add their second new player in as many days, they will have completed what a reader described to us on Friday as the "Mark Twain" transaction. (If you don't get that one, then you're too young. Or we're too old. Or both.)

SPIKES OUT IN PHILLY . . . MOSS IN?

Wow, this site has been dead on over the last two days. Spikes is listed as $5million to the cap. could he be the odd man out here. They point to a few things and number one is that Spikes is no longer listed on the official Roster...It's now Jordan. If you think so what, Lito is listed as the #2 LCB after Asante....

Thank god for edit buttons, because the Eagles just fixed there website, which proves to me that this site is golden because they follow it as well. So check it out!

The Insider Review of the Philadelphia Eagles Offense

This article is not for the weak at heart. If you believe we do not need a new deep threat on this offense, then please do not click here. I just hope to god that this is not the way the Eagles are going to approach FA.

I'm reserving my comments until you comment about Dave Spadaro and his overview of this offense. He has some interesting thoughts, but I find some of his rationale seriously flawed!

Happy Reading...this is your last chance, if you want an upgrade to the O then step away from the computer.

One Receiver that No Eagle Fan Would Want

Getting Brandon Lloyd is one rumor or damn wish that no Eagle fan in the Yard better be wishing for. A quick blurb on the release of Brandon Lloyd. Personally, I'm a little upset, I was hoping they would keep him. His stats for last year are more than worth the read.

Most important, the message I really wanted to convey is becareful in FA, even Veteran skills position players are not always cracked up for imaginary value. It's easy to over pay and not get a return. Happy returns Mr Snyder. I know San Fran enjoyed the two picks you gave them for that piece of trash.

More to come from that team. I think they are 20mil over the cap.

Finally! Philly freedom from speculation about McNabb's future

A great article on the upside of McNabb and the Eagles future '08 season. It is a must read for McNabb fans. No rumors just a bright looking future.
