Confident Eagles Fans Support The Injured Eagles

Offensively, it's tough to project who will be starting on Sunday and who won't be. However, it appears Jon Runyun is in severe danger of missing his first start in 185 games (as an offensive lineman in the NFL, that's impressive). L.J. Smith and Brent Celek are both listed as probable with groin and ankle injuries, respectively. Additionally, Will Thomas is listed as probable with his lingering knee injuy.

Defensively, Dawkins is doubtful, Considine is questionable with an ankle injury he picked up in practice this week, and Sheppard and Spikes are probable with nagging injuries as well. Quentin Mikkell has done a great job up to this point attacking the ball, and playing near the line of scrimmage, much like B-Dawk does, but safety is still a major concern for the Eagles' defense. And it should be, considering they have 3 healthy safeties set to suit up on Sunday: Mikkell, Considine, and JR Reid.

Things are looking bleak: we're 2-4, despite outstanding play by our defense. They have yet to getting going offensively. Critics are calling for Reid's head, and some are crazy enough to want McNabb out. They both have many years to go people.

If you're an Eagles fan, you have to be wondering: Can the Eagles turn this season around? Can they somehow manage to sqeeze out some wins while the Weapon X (Dawk) and the other men in green get helthy? Can they do the improbable and make it to the playoffs?

This is THE Philadelphia Eagles we're talking about here. This team is as good, if not better than the team that went to 4 straight NFC championship games. This is Donovan McNabb's team, who's entire career has been a come-from-behind Win. Ladies and gentlemen, get ready. This season isn't over, no, not by a long shot. Those Weekend Warriors haven't ever given up on us, never! So we're not giving up on them. This Sunday, turn your televisions on, or 94.1 to listen to Merrill Reese, whichever. Our Eagles need us now more than ever. Do you really wanna be the fan that turned on his team the week before the team turns it around? ... Didn't think so.

One Team. One City. One Dream

Prediction: Eagles vs. Bears

Next Week, the Eagles face another tough team in Chicago. After two away games and a bye week, the roudy Philadelphia crowd will welcome the Birds back to the Linc for the first time in a month.

Brian Griese has been playing well, but he has not yet faced a strong defense, so it is tough to say what kind of day he will have. Cedric Benson has not been carrying the ball too well either, averaging just 3 yards per carry. A big question mark will be how the Eagles deal with the kick return game of Devin Hester. Do they kick it to him?

On the other side of the ball, David Akers is glad to be home again in the Linc, where he's always been as good a kicker as there is in the NFL. Brian Westbrook will have a busy day, as the Bears linebackers, led by Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs, try to contain him. Darwin Walker, former Eagle, will be starting at DT for the Bears. It will be interesting to see how the Eagles ground game matches up against the Bears. I'd give the nod to the Birds in that category.

All in all, I'd look for Andy Reid to get the offense back on track this week, and heavily utilize both Westbrook and Buckhalter to set up the pass game. Donovan McNabb will throw for a couple of TD's, Westbrook will have a big day, but look for the Special teams of Chicago to keep it close.

Final Score: Eagles 34 Bears 24

And the Eagles are back to .500!

Eagles D Gets the W

Once again the Eagles defense holds its opponent to under 10 points. The defense stayed patient limiting the Jets to just 9 points. Minus Dawkins, minus Lito Sheppard, the secondary was very effective against the frustrating pass attack of Chad Pennington's check-downs.

Two of the three field goals came off big runs by Thomas Jones in the first quarter. However, Jim Johnson made the neccessary adjustments of defense and controlled Jones and Washington in the second half. The pass attack was never a threat as Sheldon Brown, Sean Considine, and backups Will James and Quentin Mikell stayed at home and knew their assignments.

The biggest play of the game came late in the fourth quarter. An interception put the Jets in good field position inside the Eagles's 20 yard line. The Jets went for it on fourth down and goal to go on a fade route to Coles. The Jets hopes of a comeback ended when cornerback Shelden Brown made the play of the game knocking the ball down. Final Score: Eagles 16 Jets 9

Madden Curse Strikes Vince Young

Looks like the Madden Curse may have struck again! In Sunday's game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Vince Young strained a muscle in his leg while scrambling out of bounds.

Other former Madden curse victims include Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, Michael Vick, Shaun Alexander, Eddie George, Ray Lewis, amoung others. Stay tuned to find out the severity of Young's injury.

Respect The Eagles D

With most of the attention going to the Eagles“ Donovan McNabb and his comeback from injury, the defense has gotten little attention for the outstanding job it has done thus far. Our D is letting up just over 16 points per game is tied for second in the league for sacks, and thats without Pro-Bowlers Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins! The only stat where the Eagles D isn't toward the top of the list is in the Forced Turnovers column, where they Birds have struggled. Hopefully that will change when they face Pennington and company who threw 3 costly interceptions last week against the Giants.

How are you guys liking the performance of the defense so far? Where do we need to improove? What are its strengths? Are the Birds going to start getting more turnovers, and eventually more wins? Let our voice be heard.

Finally a Semi-Healthy Eagles Team on Sunday

This Sunday will be the first time in a long time the Eagles will be sending a healthy unit out onto the battlefield. With Lito Sheppard, Brian Westbrook, LJ Smith, and William Thomas all expected to play, you had better get your popcorn ready. Our Eagles make their second drive up to the meadowlands in as many games, but this time they face a struggling Jets team whose main problems reside in their sub-par defense.

Donovan McNabb will surely be happy to have two of his favorite targets back in Brian Westbrook and LJ Smith. Donovan, who is known for hanging with the tight end in the pocket, will have more time in the pocket with Pro-Bowler left tackle William Thomas healthy again. Reports say that Todd Herremans surgically repaired knee is magically better after just 10 days. This bye week has given the offensive line time to get healthy and strong again, so that it can return to its level of play from last year.

Two weeks after a bitter loss to the G men, our Eagles will be looking for a non-conference win to try to get back to .500. The defense will face a frustrating Jets offense, headed by the "dink-and-dunker" Chad Pennington. The key to this game defensively will be patience. The Eagles match-up well against the Jets rushing attack, but its their short pass game that sets up the bigger plays for the Jets. Lito Sheppard, who returns this week from a sprained knee, and Shelden Brown have the tough assignment of containing the exploive receivers for the Jets. Coles and Cotchery are capable of turing the dink-pass into a big-gainer at any time. If the defense stays patient, they Eagles should ultimately go home 2-3.

Andy Reid McNabb "Is The Best In The Business"

In a recent interview on Yahoo! Sports, Andy Reid reiterated his support of Donovan, though some question his ability and health right now.

"Theres been alot of focus and pressure on Donovan McNabb. There are alot of questions about his leg. Is he healthy? Does Donovan McNabb have anything left to proove to you?" asked Yahoo! NFL analyst, Larry Biel.

Andy Reid calmly responded, "No he does'nt. Again I'm partial because I coach him, but I think he is the best in the business at what he does. Everybody has to pick up their game around him, and he has to pick up his game a notch All of our coaches, we're going to put our players in a little bit better position. We're all behind him [McNabb] and with him and support him, and he's doing a heck of a job coming back off that injury!"

I think this answers many of the questions regarding McNabb's status in Philly. He's our quarterback; he's our leader; he's our Superman.

SuperNabb

Haha whenever you have any doubts about how good McNabb is, just take a look at this play man. This is unbelievable.

Week 5 Picks and Upsets in the NFL

Will Green Bay finally lose to the Bears? Will the Chargers be able to hold serve the Broncos? Find out all the upset picks. Who will cover the spread and who won't.

BeliCheat VS. Travis Henry and Co.

The Patriots get nailed for cheating, specifically coach Bill Belichick. He was fined a half million dollars and docked a draft pick. Note: He wasn't suspended!!

Travis Henry possibly failed a drug test. Sources say he may have tested positive for marijuana. Now, he's staring down the face of a season long suspension pending the results of this drug test and the court hearing.

Cheating should be a more punishable crime in the NFL than marijuana use. Marijuana isn't a performance enhancer, unlike cheating. It doesn't seem fair that Henry gets a more severe punishment than Belichick.

Does anyone else see a problem here? Am I crazy or the Roger Goodell and the NFL let the Patriots off easy? If you're going to use young guys like Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, Tank Johnson, etc as an example when you punish them, then why did you let the Patriots organization off easy? If you're going to hold those young guys to a high standard (which I agree with), then you must certainly hold Belichick to an even higher standard. I like you Roger Goodell, you've done alot of good for the league in your short time as League Commisioner, but you messed up big time here.

1-3 or 4-0 We Stand by McNabb and the Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a slow start this year. At 1-3 we're last in our division. We've looked pretty bad for 3 games and absolutely perfect for a fourth. So which Eagles team are we? Our defense has been solid every game. Really, the question is which offense are we? Are we the offense that put up 56 points on Detroit's mediocre defense? Or are we the offense that allowed 12 sacks against the stellar Giants pass rush?

Well the answer is somewhere in between, That will probably be the last time we put up 50+ points this season, although no guarantees. The sky is the limit with McNabb, Westbrook, and company. But we certainly won't be having anymore of those 12 sack performances. That was likely the best pass rush we'll face all year. Plus, we were without Westbrook and Thomas. This is a good team capable of great things.

After this bye week, Andy Reid will put another notch in out win column against the jets and we'll likely get some momentum heading into some games against the struggling Bears and Vikings. Let's not forget, this is the NFC. It's still anybody's game. Keep your heads up Eagle fans, all we need is an 8-8 or 9-7 season and we're in the playoffs!
