Steve McNair will always be a Titan

... Steve McNair will always be a Titan in the minds of Titans fans. His two years in Baltimore were simply an aberration...

Thoughts From the Dark Side on Chris Carr

The Tennessee Titans got themselves a real asset when they signed Chris Carr, formerly of the Oakland Raiders. Carr is a little guy with the heart of a lion. He plays fearlessly, almost to the point of recklessly on special teams, and leaves it all on the field on defense...

The Titans have several options in the draft

There is a general consensus that there are three areas of need the Titans need to address in this draft. The Titans need help at receiver, defensive end and defensive tackle. We've had some good discussion here on Total Titans about the various receivers who might be drafted and I'd like to expand the discussion to include the other possibilities...

Does Jake Scott upgrade the Titans' o-line?

We continue our look at the new Titans with guest commentary by Matt Adams of Colts Couch Crew, who gives us his opinion of former Colt guard Jake Scott...

The door hits Chris Brown in the ass

Nobody else in the NFL wanted Chris Brown, so when the Houston Texans signed Titans' castoff Chris Brown, he and his agent were more than happy to take their money. It's nice to know that a divisional rival's new GM is foolish enough to make unwise decisions like his predecessor. All of a sudden, I don't miss Charley Casserly quite as much...

Mike Reinfeldt is OK with me

It was easy for Titans fans to be upset with new GM Mike Reinfeldt a year ago and I was among those voicing their displeasure.

The new GM had the temerity to place "dollar values" on players, as if calculating their worth as assets on a balance sheet. I was critical when the Titans lost their leading rusher and two leading receivers in free agency because other teams made better offers to them.

Hindsight shows that Reinfeldt was right, at least in the short-term, which was the 2007 season. Travis Henry, Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade posted less than impressive stats last year and the teams who paid big bucks for them certainly got much less than they bargained for...

Titans agree to terms with G Jake Scott

I like the news that the Titans have agreed to terms with Jake Scott. He's one of the guys I mentioned favorably in my offseason positional review of the guards.

Scott should make a good replacement for Jacob Bell at left guard. It's also good to see the Colts lose another player...

Reminiscing about Brett Favre and other greats

We recognize there are many good arms and then there are a few great arms. Then there's Brett Favre, who holds a ton of NFL records, some of which will probably never be broken. Brett Favre is a freak of nature to have accomplished what he has at his age. And he can still do the job, or could, if he wanted to return to the game for another year...

Money thrown at DTs should have Haynesworth drooling

Albert Haynesworth must have been salivating after hearing the news of Tommy Kelly's $50M contract, with 18M guaranteed. When Albert learned that Bill Parcells gave his backup, Randy Starks, a 21M deal with 7M guaranteed, he probably became happier than a pig in slop...

LDE is becoming more of a priority for the Titans

I doubt if Titans d-line coach Jim Washburn has been sleeping as well lately as he would have liked.

The status of Tennessee's left defensive ends is not good news for Wash or for Titans fans...

Titans offseason positional review - kicker and punter

Does it get any better than having a Pro Bowl kicker? The clutch guy who can win or lose a game with a swing of his leg with seconds left on the clock?

Titans offseason positional review - fullbacks and H-backs

I'm combining the reviews of the fullbacks and H-backs because all of them but one are guys who can play multiple positions and it's nice to have a few guys like that on your team. All of them also contribute on special teams.

The two positions can sometimes be used interchangeably, as well, although I don't recall Mike Heimerdinger doing a lot of that in his previous OC stint with the Titans.

Here's my take on Ahmard Hall, Bo Scaife and the other players currently in the mix.

Titans offseason positional review - running backs

The ground game was undoubtedly the strength of the offense in 2007, but I understand why some people feel that it needs to be upgraded. There were legitimate concerns and complaints about all the Titans' backs, for various reasons, for a good portion of the last season...
