WIll the Eagles try to get Roy Williams?

What happened to the speculation the Eagles would trade for Roy Williams, the Eagles could give them Lito Sheppard and the 1st round pick and we could have Roy WIlliams. The deal seems to make sense for both sides since it appears the lions are going to have a hard time resigning Roy Williams after the season anyway because of all the money they are already paying Calvin Johnson.

Lito Stays, it's logical. . . I think!

I do not believe that the Eagles are going to trade away Lito Sheppard. I understand that he wants more money and I understand that it is hard to manage players egos when there are 3 starting caliber corners and only 2 starting spots. However I like the position the Eagles are in with these three guys. They will have a rotation at cornerback, they will always be fresh, they will have a great nickle corner on passing downs and they will have depth at the corner position. What good is it to trade away Lito anyway? Ike Reese said on Daily News Live we would get at best a 3rd round pick for him. He probably won't hold out, he's the one who signed the extension and he still has to play through 2011. I think this will be the greatest secondary in the league by far in 2008!

Houston Texans resigned Andre Davis :(

Texans re-signed WR Andre Davis to a four-year, $16 million contract. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the deal contains $8 million guaranteed. I was really hoping the Eagles would go after him as a kick returner.

Neal among three released by Chargers

Associated Press

SAN DIEGO -- All-Pro fullback Lorenzo Neal was released Thursday by the San Diego Chargers, who also parted with safety Marlon McCree and right tackle Shane Olivea in the hours before free agency opened.

General manager A.J. Smith said all three requested their release so they can quickly jump into free agency.

Olivea had four years left on his contract while McCree and Neal each had three years remaining.

Karen Vibert-Kennedy / US PRESSWIRE

37-year-old Lorenzo Neal spent the last five seasons with the Chargers.

Olivea lost his starting job to Jeromy Clary midway through the season. McCree was released in part to allow safety Eric Weddle to move into the starting lineup. Neal's role was expected to decrease in 2008. Neal also was a Pro Bowler.

McCree is probably best remembered for fumbling a fourth-down interception in the fourth quarter that gave the New England Patriots new life in a playoff win over the top-seeded Chargers after the 2006 season.

Still, there could be a demand for his services.

Smith also said kicker Dave Rayner, a restricted free agent, will not be tendered a contract. He was signed as a kickoff specialist after Nate Kaeding fractured his plant leg in a win over Denver on Dec. 24. Kaeding continued to kick field goals and PATs.

The Chargers expect unrestricted free agents Michael Turner and Drayton Florence to get big money elsewhere.

Turner is expected to get a starting job elsewhere after backing up LaDainian Tomlinson for three seasons. Smith shopped Turner last offseason but didn't get an offer he liked. So he kept the bruising back under a $2.35 million, one-year contract.

The Chargers tried for three years to work out an extension with Florence, who went from starter to nickel back after the emergence of Antonio Cromartie. Cromartie led the NFL with 10 interceptions and was named All-Pro and to the Pro Bowl.

The Chargers said 11 players have either had surgery or are scheduled to.

The three players scheduled to have surgery in the next few weeks were all chosen for the Pro Bowl. They are linebacker Shawne Merriman (knee), left tackle Marcus McNeill (shoulder) and defensive tackle Jamal Williams (knees). Williams pulled out of the Pro Bowl because of his injuries and McNeill, originally a second alternate, was added to the roster when two players pulled out.

Smith declined to be specific about the nature of their injuries.

Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates had surgery this week on his dislocated left big toe and is expected to have a rehab of four to six months.

Eagles have about $26.7 Million room in the cap heading into Free Agency

They had $17.7 million plus they carried $4.5 million over from last year through Reno Mahe's contract and they released Jevon Kearse which freed up another $4.5 million. With $26.7 Million in cap space the Eagles are in for a huge free agency.

Eagles interested in Javon Walker

Comcast Sportsnet's Derrick Gunn is reporting that the Eagles will be interested in Javon Walker should he get released which appears inevitable. I have also heard that the Cowboys, Redskins and Buccaneers are interested in his services. I am just excited that they are thinking about Wide Receiver!

Detroit Lions Release Cornerback Fernando Bryant!

The Lions just released veteran cornerback Fernando Bryant. I would think the Eagles will go after him and while he is not Asante Samuel he would be a significant upgrade over James and Hanson at the nickel corner position and he would provide much better depth. He is 30 years old and still has a few good years left. Should be a much cheaper option at cornerback.

What about Jabar Gaffney?

I don't understand why no one is talking about Jabar Gaffney. He will also be a free agent and to me he makes more sense then Donte Stallworth, he beat Donte out for the starting job in New England, he is a lot less injury prone and he should be a lot cheaper! I would like the Eagles to take a look at him, we would still need someone else. . . maybe we could get Jabar and Stallworth. I would personally like to see us sign Jabar Gaffney and Andre Davis. Andre is a great kick returner and did a nice job filling in for Andre Johnson when he was hurt.

What I would like to see the Eagles do this off season

Free Agency:

Acquire Alge Crumpler, Donte Stallworth, and maybe Ty Law

Release Darren Howard, Jevon Kearse, and Thomas Tapeh

Remove Franchise Tag from L.J Smith

Trade:

5th round pick for Lorenzo Neal

Draft:

1st Round: Defensive end (Possibly Trade up for Vernon Gholston)

2nd Round: Cornerback (Hopefully Cromartie will still be there in the second round)

3rd Round: Left Tackle (Best Available)

4th Round: Fullback (Practice Squad until Lorenzo Neal retires)

6th Round: Kicker (As much as I love David Akers, give him some competition)

7th Round: Who really cares?

Let Max Jeanes-Gilles battle Todd Herremans for starting left guard

and give Winston Justice a chance at right tackle ( Jon Runyan is getting old, we gave up 48 sacks last year)

Where do you buy Super Five clothing?

I have been looking all over for Super Five clothing for the past year and have had no luck. Anyone know where to get it?

Eagles Trade Package for Reggie Wayne?

Just saw on NFL Live that the Eagles are trying to create a trade package for Reggie Wayne. They said it could include Reggie Brown, Chris Gocong and a 1st round pick. I would definitely take this with a grain of salt because of all these rumors floating around the Eagles. I think this is a ridiculous trade for both sides and just don't see it happening.
