I was surprised to hear how at ease and casual Swisher sounded. His West Virginia accent was evident and with his good guy optimism he seemed to be entirely at ease.

Yankees vs. Cubs exhibition to open Yankee Stadium

Playing the Cubs in exhibition is a great way to open up the season. Great team to do it against and getting to see the stadium before 4/16 is awesome. It's a real shame that the Yankees won't open up the season at home - horrendous scheduling. I just hope all the good stuff is up and running by then.

Andy Pettitte filed for free agency, but all he wants to do is play for the Yankees. Hopefully Mussina will announce his intentions so we can get our first answer to the many offseason questions and turn our attention to bigger fish.

Mussina goes for his first 20-win season, weather allowing

On Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park, weather allowing, Mike Mussina will start the last day of the season with hopes of netting the first 20-win year of his 18 season career. The Red Sox will throw Daisuke Matsuzaka after a rain delay shifted Boston's starting rotation.
