NEW YORK Yankees pitcher Randy Johnson is scheduled for surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back.
The injury hampered the left-hander during the final weeks of the season.
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman says that the surgery would put Johnson behind the other pitcher when spring training starts in February.
However, Johnson's agent, Barry Meister says the Big Unit will be ready.
The 43-year old Johnson went 17-and-11 with a five-point-00 e-r-a in 33 starts this season.
