Ray Emery avoided salary arbitration and became one of the highest paid goaltenders in the league Tuesday by signing a three-year $9.5 million deal. Emery lead his team to the Stanley Cup Finals this year and was by far the best player on the ice against the Ducks. He finished 13-7 this postseason with a 2.26 GAA and was 12-3 entering the Finals. Ray made just $925k this past season but now will average $3.16M. I think the extra .16 is an added bonus for his beatdown of Buffalo's Martin Biron.

Has anyone else wondered why we haven't heard anything about Brandan Wright this summer? He has a right hip flexor injury he suffered this April after North Carolina's tournament run. This explains why he wouldn't work out against anyone before the draft. Wright is reportedly taking things slow while Nellie impatiently waits for the number 8 pick to develop. Let's hope he'll be ready for training camp.

Sharks General Manager Doug Wilson has recently said that he is happy with Sharks roster even though he has done nothing to help it after another disappointing postseason exit. The Sharks have lost Vesa Toskala, Mark Bell, Scott Hannan and Bill Guerin since the season ended and have sat back and watched as big name players have moved around. They have locked up Thornton, Rivet, and Grier which have been good moves, but why are they not going after another experienced defenseman or forward? As a Sharks fan I'm not getting all that excited as the season nears. Any thoughts?
