Entertaining Soccer Ref Video

Check out this video of Juiz Viado, an international soccer referee. Watch how this fool skips around the field and is hella enthusiastic at his job. This is a MUST SEE.

Who's the Better Team: the Suns or the Mavs?

At this point in the season, I think all basketball fans can agree that the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns are the two best teams in the league. But the question that is a little more nail-biting is who is the better of the two teams.

In my opinion, I believe that Dallas is the better team. I think that what matters most when it comes down to the playoffs is defense. And the Mavericks simply play better defense than the Suns. In fact, since Avery Johnson has become head coach of the Mavs, they have become a "defensive-minded" team- a 180 degree turnaround from the offensive powerhouse days of Don Nelson.

As for the Suns, no one can deny the fact that the return of Amare has been HUGE for them. Their 15 game winning streak is unbelievable and it is largely attributable to the return of Amare. Don't get me wrong- the Suns are REALLY GOOD, but come playoff time, with coach Mike D'Antoni making the calls, I can just see them resorting to shooting the 3 late in games- a strategy which will not work.

There's my analysis...let's hear yours...

USC Edges out Cal, 76-73

The Trojans seemed to be comfortably ahead at the halfway point. Bure sure enough, the Golden Bears brought a whole new team onto the court in the second half, and narrowly beat the 25th ranked Trojans at Berkeley's Haas Pavillion.

The USC Trojans eeked out behind the great late-game play of Daniel Hackett, who scored on a backdoor layup with 16 seconds left to give the Trojans the lead. The Golden Bears missed a three-pointer that would have tied the game.

How tough is the Pac-10 this year? Are they the best conference in college basketball?

Nets' Cheeerleaders To Show Some More Boobage

Apparently Beyonce and her mom are going to be redesigning the outfits for the Nets' cheerleaders. Their current ones aren't so hot, let's be frank. But the new ones are supposed to feature some Beyonce-like tops with a little more BOOBAGE, and probably just an all-around better time for the players and the fans.

Go Beyonce and Mama Beyonce?

2 African-American Coaches in Super Bowl For 1st Time

If you watched the trophy presentation ceremony after the Colts-Patriots game last night, you saw Jim Nantz interviewing Tony Dungy. Nantz asked Dungy how much it meant to him that he and Lovie Smith were the first two African-American coaches to go head-to-head in the Super Bowl.

I don't know about you, but this really irritated me. I hate when the media just thrives on issues like this one, just so they have a story to develop for the Super Bowl. So, this time it would be "First 2 Black Coaches To Face Off in Super Bowl." I absolutely think that this trivializes both coaches' accomplishments, and rather than just recognizing them as "good coaches," it recognizes them as "good African-American coaches."

I understand that the CBS crew, and Jim Nantz, probably didn't mean this negatively, but I do think that sportscasters should shy away from questions like that, especially at a time of celebration for both Dungy and Smith.

Any thoughts?

Corey Maggette To the Spurs?

Apparently, Maggette might be headed to San Antonio. After numerous rumors of him potentially going to the Kings in a swap for Ron Artest, the latest rumors are that he'll be headed San Antonio's way.

There's one thing for sure though- the Clippers DO NOT WANT Maggette. You think this rumor is legit or is it an other sac-town snub?

Jason Kidd On the Move?

Apparently, a reputable NBA columnist is reporting that Jason Kidd is on the move. After the Nets are a lowly .500 on the season, many are speculating whether Kidd is headed elsewhere. Before, it was Vince Carter. Now, Jason Kidd. Think it's legit?

Peyton Manning Should Thank His Teammates

After the win last week against Baltimore, Peyton Manning told the press that it was a "Colts' win" last week. But he also said that either he should get all the credit when they win, or he shouldn't be solely blamed for the losses. I think, given the way Peyton has played the last couple weeks, he needs to thank his teammates.

Realisitcally, he should tell his defense that they have carried him and he has been terrible thus far in the playoffs. Apology time for Peyton?

NFC Playoff Predictions: I'm Picking The NFC East

The two games for the NFC this weekend are between the Cowboys and the Seahawks and the Giants and the Eagles. Here are my predictions:

Cowboys/Seahawks: COWBOYS (26-17)

Despite the poor showing of the Cowboys last week against the Lions, expect them to be back in top form this week against Seattle. Although Seattle played well in their last game against Tampa Bay, the Seahawks have really struggled all year long after a Super Bowl appearance last year. Hasselbeck and Alexander haven't really been healthy all year, and really haven't been in sync since they've been back. Expect the Seahawks to come up with some poor tackling and watch Romo and T.O. hook up for a big day!

Eagles/Giants: EAGLES (34-17)

Parts of me are tempted to pick the Giants. But there's just no way. Although Tiki Barber played unbelievably in his final regular season, don't expect a repeat performance. Jim Johnson will bring an aggressive defensive attack that will pressure the heck out of Eli Manning and cause him to make numerous bad decisions. Jeff Garcia will play well and Brian Westbrook will have a Barber-like game. Shockey will be pissed, Eli will be frustrated, and Coughlin will be fired soon afterward. I'm takin the Eagles baby!

Is Cowher Headed to Miami?

After reports from ESPN are confirming that Steelers' coach Bill Cowher will resign on Monday, many are wondering if he is the best man to fill the open position in Dolphin country. After fraud Saban left to Alabama, many people feel like Cowher would be a great fit for the Dolphins.

In my opinion, this is not realistic at all. If Cowher retires, it's going to be because he wants to spend more time with his family in North Carolina, and Miami isn't any closer to N.C. than Pittsburgh is. On top of that, with one year left on his contract in Pittsburgh, the Steelers won't let him retire his career as a coach of the Dolphins. Cowher will either retire or stay a Steeler with a Pay Raise!

Cal's Lynch To Enter Draft

Marshawn Lynch, this year's Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year, will enter the NFL draft this coming season. Lynch, who ran for over a 1000 yards and 11 TDs on the season, led the Golden Bears to a co-Pac 10 championship with a win in their bowl game against Texas A&M.

Lynch is the second Cal player under coach Jeff Tedford to opt out of his senior year to go to the draft. The first was quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who was drafted by the Green Bay Packers two years ago.

Anyone willing to guess how high Marshawn will go in the draft?

Pay Raise and Cowher Stays?

Steelers' president Art Rooney II met with the coach Bill Cowher on Tuesday to discuss his future with the team. Rooney let Cowher know that he needed to make a decision sometime in the next week. The Steelers' front office think that the 49 year-old Cowher is headed toward retirement, leaving behind quite a legacy in the Steel City.

The front office is asking Cowher to make his decision within the next week because they feel like he's going to walk away from the job. With that in mind, they need to be on the look out for filling the position.

It seems like the two biggest factors in Cowher's decision are family and money: obviously he wants to spend more time with the family and the $4 million he got paid this year is only half of Mike Holmgren's salary in Seattle. What do you think...pay raise and Cowher stays?

Favre Seems To Be Headed Toward Retirement

"If this is my last game, I want to remember it. It's tough. I love these guys. I love this game. What a great way to go out against a great football team. I couldn't ask for a better way to get out."

Those were the words of Brett Favre after the Packers' win last night against the Chicago Bears. Although the win did not put the Packers in the playoffs, it certainly did put Favre in tears. The most durable quarterback of our time was in tears as he told reporters that he had a "blast" this season. Favre remains one game behind John Elway's record of career victories, and seven TDs shy of Dan Marino's record mark.

With all this said and done, is it realistic to assume that Favre will retire at the end of this year?

Jack Del Rio Advocates "Spearing" Tom Brady

Jaguars' linebacker Clint Ingram LEVELED Tom Brady on a play early in the game last week. Jags' coach Jack Del Rio defended Ingram and said that on another play when Brady was running and looked like he was going to slide (but didn't), his players should have "speared him."

Belichick responded by saying that seeing how Del Rio's defense has historically always struggled against Brady, he understands his frustration.

Biggest Comeback in Bowl History!

Down 31 to the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the second half, the Texas Tech Red Raiders rallied to a 44-41 win in the Insight Bowl. After being shut out 28-0 in the midway through the second quarter, Texas Tech scored their first touchdown and ended up being down 35-7 going into the half.

Behind three TDs from running back Shannon Woods, Texas Tech was victorious in overtime. After tying the game at 38 to end regulation, the Red Raiders held Minnesota to a field goal on their first possession of overtime and then scored on a three yard run by Woods.

What can you say about this game? How bout them Red Raiders? Their offense is certainly better than the Raiders in the NFL!
