I've been thinkin about what its like to be a fan of the Philadelphia teams. Most yardbarkers (sepecially 5 rings) know we can be obnoxious, rude, and outright mean at times. I dont agree with it but I've seen characteristics amongst philly fans that resembles a pack of wild dogs. We hunt our prey, grab one out of the back of the pack, and dine on their weakness. We've been known to kick a guy when he's down, known to run our superstars out of town, and of course boo anybody that doesnt give 100% effort, 100% of the time. After hearing Jimmy Rollins call the fans of Philadelphia "Front Runners", I was initially bent. But, I've thought about it and I don't necessarily disagree. I think his choice of words was incorrect, but his sentiment wasn't that far off. "Front Runners" by most definitions, are fans that show up when their teams are in first place but are nowhere to be seen when the team is struggling. "Front runners" are apathetic for most of the season, but pay attention when their local team is in the finals. Jimmy was way off by these definitions. We represent all the time! We sell out the both stadiums constantly, 30,000 person waiting list to get into Lincoln Financial Field. That's not the M.O of a front runner... What I think he meant to say is that Philly fans are difficult and short fused. It's difficult to stay on the good side of the Phans of Philly. You're our guy until you mess up, then we want your back-up... Ask Randall Cunningham (MVP), Eric Lindros (MVP), Allen Iverson (MVP), Scott Rolen (ROY), and T.O (WACKJOB) what its like to get on the bad side... These players have all fealt the wrath of what I call Philadelphia's "excell-a-phobia"... This is our fear of supremely gifted athletes not winning a championship... We fear having the most talent, only to choke it away when it really matters. And that fear manifests itself in boos. It's a result of us being let down by a me, me, me, guy again and again. But, guess what? It goes the other way too... Look at Bobby Clarke... He won a the Cup back in the mid 70's... That dude got free run of the city for the next 30 years and paid for zero drinks for the remainder of his time here. Dr. J is revered like the Dalai Lama of Philly. Chuck Bednarik is still admired as much as any Eagle in team history. We're talking 1960 for that guy... Pete Rose, who played most of his career in a different town, doesn't even have to pay the juice on his bets in philly... Rocky!!! Rocky for goodness sakes is getting standing ovations 30+ years after he beat Apollo Creed... And he's not even f'in real... These guys won CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!! THEY WON IT ALL... Not MVP awards for a first round playoff loser. Not MVP for a cup runner-up. Not SI covers as "The Ultimate Weapon". They won championships... We have high hopes for every team, every year. We want a championship. No, check that... We want lots of Championships. But we gotta get one first. J-Roll, if you put the team on your MVP back, and carry us to another playoff loss, you too will understand what its like to be Randall Cunningham. But, if you carry us to the Championship, we will cast statues in your honor. We will name our first born sons Rollins. We will allow you to kiss our wives on the mouth. But its not up to us. Its up to you... So for all the athletes that dont know, now you know. We expect 100% effort, 100% of the time. PS. Next time a reporter asks about the fans in Philly, recite this quote... "I love the Fans in Philly. They have so much passion and they let you hear it... Good times and bad they've got passion." Thats it...

As a native Philadelphian that has set roots in a different city, there are elements of "home" that I miss. Real cheesesteaks, TastyKake Tandycakes, Wawa coffee and my fondest memories of watching Eagles games with nothing but Eagles Fans. I've been gone 6 long years and I think I've found one of the solutions.... If you a Iggles fan living in ATL or anywhere else really, check out the link to find an establishment near you where there are nothing but Birds Fans.... Enjoy.

This post is for the haters, The back-up QB lovers, the revisionist historian naysayers that forget where we've come from and who brought us here... For those that need a source, it starts on page 134.... Please check my sources, cause I aint making this stuff up. -Who has the most postseason wins than any other QB in Eagles History? You got him. -Who was the first player in NFL history to throw for 30+ TD's and less than 10 INT's? Yep. -Who ranks first in NFL history with a winning percentage of .663 (minimum 95 starts). uh huh... -Who has the most 300 yard passing games in eagles history? yeah, same guy... -Who has the NFL record for most consecutive passes completed? Wow, this is getting repetitive huh? -Who became the 1st QB in NFL history with 1,500+ yds. and 10+ TDs, with no more than one INT through the first five games of a season? huh, this guy seems pretty good... - Theres more, I just choose to stop here. I refer you to page 136 for a more detailed look into all of the records this player holds. I also refer you to the Ben Franklin Bridge if you somehow forget that 5 is the best thing to happen to this franchise. Be gone haters.

I was born and raised in Philly, but now I Live in Atlanta... I'm looking for an Eagles Bar in the ATL. Not a sports bar that shows the Eagles game on a TV or 2... But a bar that has a bunch of people in Kelly Green or Midnight Green watching the game.
There are Eagles Fans all over the country, so if you are like me, and have a Nest in a different city, post it here to help others out.

Bengals fans have had enough with Chad Johnson. Calls for his exile from Cinci come from all over the place... Media outlets stir the pot and the readers add the ingredients. Bengals Fans are begging for 3 things: 1. Trade Ocho Cinco... 2. Trade for/ draft a LB immediately, and 3. Get help in the interior of the D Line... Supposedly, some GM in the league thinks it would take a 1st and a 3rd OR 2 seconds to relieve the Bengals of their outspoken WR Problem. Also TJ Houshmandjadeh is in the final year looking for a big contract. Trading 85, As we all know, would be an $8M cap hit this year, but it frees up some space for other WR's next year. So, they wouldnt want Lito. They drafted Leon Hall in the first round last year. Picks and or run stopping middle men may get this done.

Hey everybody!!! Lets remember a few things about the 8-8 Philadelphia Eagles of 2007... 1. The opening week in Green Bay we had 2, (two, Dos, Deux) fumbles on Special Teams. One in the first quarter, which was recovered in the endzone for 7 and one in the fourth quarter in the final minutes of the game... That won't happen more than once a decade... Essentially a loss snatched from the hands of victory. 2. Our Quaterback was far from 100% healthy. The medical experts say that an ACL injury takes a full year to come back from... Look at D5's #'s after week 10. With the exception of the Detroit game, our offense wasnt able to get it done until then. A healthy QB will add at least two victories to our total. 3. The Eagles lost a rediculous 19-16 decision to the Chicago Bears at the Link on a last-second touchdown by Muhsin Muhammad. We were up by four points with 1:57 remaining, the Bears drove 97 yards on 11 plays with no timeouts to rally for the victory... Uhhhh completely unbelievable... The addition of Assante will help with this... When's the last ime the defense let up a drive like that??? Who knows. 4. The defense mustered exactly 11 picks and 8 fumble recoveries in 07... When was the last time the eagles had less than 20 takeaways in a year??? During Ray Rhode's last year...1998... Again a once a decade occurence... Lets be serious for a minute... in 07, We weren't talented enough to go undefeated for the season... But we were realistically a 10-6 team... the bears and packers games were losses that shouldnt have happened... While the defense stopped the run considerably better than the year before, it apparently came at the expense of getting takeaways... In 08, if nothing changes except D5 is healthy, we don't have fumbles on Special teams, and the defense forces 30 turnovers (Average# during the J. Johnson tenure) we're 11-5... I know the redzone offense was putrid last year, but just look at the facts... The Redskins game was really the only game that it was aweful, that resulted in a loss... In Closing, I have 3 more things: Keep Kolb on the bench, Screw the Cowboys, & F T.O. and his korterback...

Bill Plaschke, you are not welcome in Philly. Your habitual message about how bad My City, My Teams, My Quarterback, My fellow fans, how we deserve our championship drought has left me no choice but to ban you from my beloved hometown. My city, while filled with scars of yesteryear, is alive with a passion that obviously an LA based wannabe sports writer can't understand... My Teams, have had a tough decade or two... the loyal and sometimes overzealous fans will continue to police the organizations ourselves... We dont need your big chin and speech impediment telling us what they're doing wrong... My quarteback, the last time I checked, has been to a Superbowl, mulitple conference championships, multiple ProBowls, most without a true #1 WR. Dont comment about 5... He's ours, and you dont get it. But how could you? You live in a town with a bunch of coke snorting actresses showing their roastbeef samwitches (Yeah i said samwitches) to every Papparazzi photog available. Finally, enough with your incessant critique of my fellow fans. At this point, they are my little brother. I can pick on them, beat em up and give em wedgies, but you're not in the family... So dont event think about it... BOOOOOOO you Plaschke.... Boooooo that man!
