Score OS: Open Source Fantasy Sports Management System

This a very informative interview with one of the founders of Score OS. It details what Score OS is all about and where the company hopes to go in the future. Pretty interesting stuff and a good read.

Fine line between loyalty and professionalism

If there is one constant that binds two of the players currently caught in the crosshairs of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell -- that duo being Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick and Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones -- it is the fact that their friends have figured so prominently in their off-the-field issues.

We keep hearing about the influence of their entourages or their posses, so much so that it raises a question that should be familiar to many pro athletes: How do you deal with your friends from the old neighborhood? Some would say............

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Texas Longhorns (Big 12)

Fantasy College Impact:

Only one 3-star QB recruit? This must mean Colt McCoy's job is pretty safe. McCoy had a terrific year after replacing the omnipotent Vince Young. Colt tossed for 2262 PaYd, 27 PaTD, 7 PaINT for the 2006 Rose Bowl Champions. In his second year commanding the offense, look for Colt to put up more impressive numbers.

The starting RB job goes to Jamaal Charles (805 RuYd, 7 RuTD). Charles is a lock for the starting job, but with four 4-star recruits that can carry the rock, it is a wonder ..............................

Top 10 of the last 10: most underachieving

Editor's note: This Top 10 list is an aggregate of the individual ballots from five ESPN/ESPN.com basketball experts. The experts' ballots can be found here.

How do you define underachieving? It's more than being consistently bad -- there are plenty of programs in Division I that can claim that dishonor. Much like Larry Brown's Knicks, it has more to do with grossly underperforming, given the resources poured into the endeavor and the relative opportunity for success.

The schools that made this list meet that definition. While most of them have faced some sort of bump in the road (academic issues, off-court indiscretions.............................

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Virginia Tech Hokies (ACC)

Fantasy College Impact:

After a pretty good season (2097 PaYd, 11 PaTD, 8 PaINT) rising redshirt junior Sean Glennon is the projected starter in Blacksburg. The backup postion is up for grabs with Ike Whitaker & Cory Holt battling during spring practice. Whitaker has a some real-game experience (119 PaYd, 1 PaTD), but this job will be won on the practice field. It looks like Ike has the edge after the final spring scrimmage, but this could be a revolving backup role all season. Also, remember that 5-star stud Tyrod Taylor is in the mix, and if there is any mop-up duty to be had, we could see Taylor out there over any of the other QBs..............

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Oklahoma Sooners (Big 12)

Fantasy College Impact:

Last season, Paul Thompson led the Sooners through all the controversy surrounding Rhett Bomar and had a steller year (2434 PaYd, 20 PaTD, 8 PaINT). Thompson is gone, leaving the starting QB job up for grabs. Currently, Sam Bradford & Joey Halzle, who combined for 1 completion and 15 PaYD last seasons, are the top two contenders. We would not be surprised to see 4-star recruit Keith Nichol getting a few looks from the coaching staff. Coach Stoops would love to have a freshman come in and be a 4 year starter.

You lose Adrian Peterson (935 RuYd, 10 RuTD), the leading rusher for the past three seasons and you do not recruit a single running back. That says one of two things, either the recruiting coordinator is not doing his job that well............

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Oklahoma State Cowboys (Big 12)

It is a good thing Rising Junior QB Bobby Reid threw for 2054 PaYd, 23 PaTD, 10 PaINT, and ran for 466 RuYd, 5 RuTD, because the Cowboys did not sign a single QB during recruitng season. OSU has Zac Robinson in the apprentice roll, so he could be a red shirt flier.

The RB position is stacked for the Cowboys. Dantrell Savage and Keith Toston combined to rush for 1451 RuYd, 14 RuTD last fall. Both return to bolster the ground game.....more........

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Texas Tech Red Raiders (Big 12)

Fantasy College Impact:

Last year Graham Harrell was just plain crazy amassing 4110 PaYd, 36 PaTD, 10 PaINT, 1 RuTD. Needless to say, he is a lock to start at QB this season.

Shannon Woods was equally impressive running the ball. He racked up 817 RuYd, 7 RuTD, 553 ReYd, 2 ReTD. He too is a lock for the starting RB spot. This is a good thing....More.....

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Virgina Cavaliers (ACC)

Fantasy College Impact:

Jameel Sewell looks to have the starting QB job locked up after a 1342 PaYd, 5 PaTD, 6 PaINT, 200 RuYd, 4 RuTD sophomore season. Incoming 4-star recruit Peter Lalich should be a good player to redshirt if your league allows that type of roster spot.

Jason Snelling is gone, as are his 772 RuYd, 7 RuTD, 286 ReYd. This leaves the door open for a host of young running backs.....

2007 Football Recruiting Roundup: Texas A&M Aggies (Big 12)

Fantasy College Impact:

When you toss the rock like Stephen McGee did last season, 2118 PaYd, 11 PaTD, 2 PaINT, you should have no problem holding onto your starting QB status. The Aggies are solid at this position.

Texas A&M is also rock solid at RB. Jorvorskie Lane & Mike Goodson combined for 1474 RuYd, 23 RuTD worth of offense. Look for these two to continue to rack up yards and break fantasy owner's hearts. No owner likes RBBC. The Aggies also have a nice 4-star recruit who will look to add a change of pace to the offense when the time is right.
