A Look At Austin Bailey

The only thing I have talked about in regards to Austin Bailey is that I don't like him as much as Huntzinger and Britton. You probably haven't heard much about Bailey, since he was a 16th round selection out of High School, so here is a little more about Bailey.

International Signing 2008 Update

It is extremely early in the signing period but the Red Sox have already signed four players. Those players are Luis Bastardo (RHP), Heiker Meneses (SS), Felix Sanchez (OF), and Hayato Doue (C). I'm sad to say that I have had trouble digging up information on any of these players.

Who Gets the 25th Spot? Moss or Carter?

As the time goes by, it looks more and more like the final roster spot in Boston is coming down to Brandon Moss and Chris Carter. Both players are having strong springs, have had impressive minor league careers, have defensive flexibilities, and sport major league bats. First things first, here is a look at how they are doing this spring

Bryan Corey To Japan?

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe mentioned today that Bryan Corey is contemplating heading to Japan if he does not make the Major League squad. The article also mentioned that the O's have been scouting him, presumably for their Major League Team. This would not be the first time for Corey in Japan. In 2004, Corey spent the season pitching for the Yomiuri Giants. Corey would be the second pitcher of the Sox to head to Japan, Travis Hughes being the first.

I'm looking for some help. Are there any Fantasy Baseball or stats guru's out there? If so, and are willing to give me some help, drop me a line at rsoripwa@gmail.com. I've been trying to do figure out the best way to rank players and assess their value but i'm not sure if i'm heading in the right direction. So if you can help give me an e-mail.

Free Agency vs. The Draft: Why Money and Talent Is Going to Waste

Today in his chat, Jim Callis mentioned that he felt if teams spent between five and seven extra million dollars on the draft it would lead to drafts that yield seven elite prospects. This got me to think, "Could this possibly be true?" In short, yes this is very true. If teams started taking money and time away from Free Agency and using it to the Draft they would be much better off economically and competitively.

Breakout Candidate: Stolmy Pimentel

Stolmy Pimentel is either a player you drool over or you have never heard of. He was the 2007 Latin Program Pitcher of the Year and well as a DSL all star. The recently turned 18 year old is something of a man child. Stand at 6′3″ 185 lbs

RSS Feed, I Need Your Help

Here is my plea. I have set myself the goal of have 100 people subscribe to my site by the time the season ends. For a big site like The Hardball Times or MLB Trade Rumors that is nothing but to me that would be a huge improvement. So help a man out here. If you do not know how to use a Reader click here. It will be the best decision you ever make, to create a Reader that is. Adding me to your Reader would just be a win win situation for the both of us.

The Globe on Chris Carter

Amalie Benjamin of the Boston Globe and the rest of the Globes staff have been doing a great job covering the action in Fort Myers. Yesterday she put up an article where she discussed several former and current Sox prospects including Jed Lowrie and Manny Delcarmen. What she had to say about Chris Carter was the most interesting part of the piece. She said
